A former foe turned friend on Thursday morning when Lamond Daniels endorsed Mayor Joe Ganim for another four-year term over John Gomes who had also sought Daniels support. The announcement was made at a news conference at the location of Daniels former campaign headquarters on the East Side.
Daniels, who opted out of another general election run Feb. 27, announced he decided to endorse Ganim after a series of meetings with the mayor to discuss government inclusiveness, expediting appointments to boards and commissions, creation of a fair rent commission, live streaming of City Council meetings, increased support for education and creating job opportunities.
Daniels, 52, who served in the mayoral administration of Bill Finch, oversees several departments in the city of Norwalk. Both Daniels and Ganim said they did not discuss a specific role in the administration in exchange for support but neither closed the door to that possibility. Daniels currently earns more in Norwalk than the top administrative officials in Bridgeport.
This is a key woo for Ganim and unexpected since Daniels decided to eschew a primary endorsement, but Ganim has continued to stay in touch with Daniels since his primary win last month. Daniels also represents a fresh face with no political baggage in the cause to attract his supporters. Daniels added that he had several conversations with his inner circle of advisers in fashioning his decision to endorse.
Daniels, as a petitioning candidate, received 1,800 votes in the November general election won by Ganim. Daniels said, as a courtesy, he notified Gomes of his decision to endorse Thursday morning while not disclosing Gomes’ response.
Daniels did not share why he opted for Ganim over Gomes, but Daniels insiders say he is unimpressed with the type of campaign Gomes has run largely based on a falling out with the mayor with no framework on where Gomes would take the city.
This endorsement is a big blow to money-challenged Gomes who’s in need of some good news after Ganim’s solid primary win last month. Key Gomes financial backers that helped raise the money to put him in play have walked away.
Will someone please talk Jeff Kohut from jumping off M&T Bank Headquarters. Where’s Doctor McLaine?
Joel you need to second my nomination of Jeff Ko-Nut, for mayor of Fantasy Island.
SECOND!
Maybe this will help both Kohut and Gomes cope with the news:

While chocking down those Chocolate Valentines , Mayor Finch and Mayor Fabrizi simultaneously giving each other the Heimlich Maneuver, after hearing this endorsement!
“…Daniels said, as a courtesy, he notified Gomes of his decision to endorse Thursday morning while not disclosing Gomes’ response.”
McLaine, what words you think John Gomes used as a response?
The John Gomes campaign is DOA. Rest in pieces Gomes for mayor. Joel please play taps before the Gomes campaign is buried and pass the hat for all the unpaid expenses incurred. Give our condolences to Jeff Ko-Nut the grieving widow.
A moment of silent please:

Lamond: It is unfortunate how you have damaged your image by abandoning your campaign for mayor and its mission to right Bridgeport’s course. It is also unfortunate that you have garnered the attention and political interest of people who will not be helpful in your political career to the extent that their efforts will bring you to higher elected or appointed office (at least in any good, or lasting way that will allow you the kind of legacy that you would desire in your later years…). You have stranded yourself on a political Pequod… Grab one of the political coffins nearby, and hang-on and hope for rescue… But swim away from Ahab — he is tethered to the mast and is going down…
John Gomes: Now we at least know who is not the “quitter” in this mayoral race… If you can get your (hopeful) message out to the neighborhoods even as you counter the Ganim propaganda, you can make a strong showing (or better) on 2/27. Lamond’s endorsement of JG will not be seen as genuine or positive by all of the people that voted for him and expected better of him. His votes will be gravitating toward you — go out and pull them in…

Ko-Nut is delirious. The shock is just too much for the grieving widow. Daniels endorsement was the final nail in the coffin. I doubt if anyone from the Late Gomes Campaign will even show up on election day to work the polls. Give it up. Gomes mother will probably be the next one to endorse Joe Ganim. Ko-Nut it’s over let the Gomes campaign rest in eternal peace. Joel please pass the hat we don’t want to leave the widow in debt.
Joel I believe that the language used was probably so strong and abusive more than likely containing a few slurs so shocking that it would probably cause JML to soil his red rubber panties.
Getting confused JoeMc? There are two red boots in the picture Lennie shows of me from about ten years ago, when addressing the City Council public speaking session. Check your eyes on this statement. True or false. No thought required for this.
And you, who accuse others of mental or emotional issues, with no facts or evidence, for the absurdity of it all, have reached down into your base soul and that is where you locate “red rubber panties” you allege me to own or wear? Want to say more about a possible fetish?
I know that you do not answer reasonable questions or verbal challenges, for your are in reality a “cheerleader with claws” but few facts for your “cause” within the context of the last eight years of Ganim2 leadership.
This week “the cause” has posted another project that appears to bring $10 million into the City for a sports facility to promote squash. Squash is a racket sport played in a room by two players that calls for speed, dexterity, and flexible movement among other attributes. It can be played in all seasons because of the indoor courts with the smaller racket head and rubber ball smaller than tennis. I favor attention and money to flow for all families during the lives of children to developm water skills and safety practices to overcome natural fears in a productive enjoyable lifetime to follow with nature’s water resources locally. Not knocking golf, lacrosse, hockey, boxing and wrestling, or racing of various types, but why does Bridgeport have swimming based resources in retreat, with no replacement, and a shrunken program that is not promoted by the City website? Time will tell.
Is it possible that what I have posted may have put someone’s soiled red rubber panties in a bunch? LMAO. A post from JML in my opinion is like having a diamond chip delivered in a 55 gallon container of feces. I like many others find him annoying and his style of writing unappealing. It’s not so much all of the content as it is the messenger/delivery.
This is not satire, but it sounds like it. Wait till the end. The Lamont comment is hysterical…
