WPCA Board To Address Collection Issues Raised By City Council

The Water Pollution Control Authority board, in response to reforms proposed by the City Council regarding the agency’s collection practices, has scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday, 4 pm in the City Council Legislative Services Office in the Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street.

The agenda includes:

Presentation by the City Attorney’s Office as legal counsel to the WPCA regarding recent reforms made to WPCA collection practices.

Discussion by the WPCA Board concerning how to proceed with the WPCA collections and budgeting …

Possible WPCA action regarding WPCA planning, operations and collections, including but not limited to, implementing: (a) WPCA in-house dispute resolution process for residential debtors and (b) a ratepayer contribution funded program to provide financial assistance to residential ratepayers experiencing extreme hardship.

Information regarding miscellaneous rate payer complaints that have been been received.

  1. Interesting the meeting is scheduled for tea time, 4:00 PM. Many will still be at work or in their way home in the colossal mess that is I-95 at rush hour.
