Watch: “Don’t Do It” – Officer Warns Knives-Wielding Attacker Before Shooting Him In Leg

Courage and control are markings of a sturdy police officer. Officer Israel Colon responded to a charging Dale Stephenson last week brandishing two knives. “Hey, hey, hey…don’t do it…don’t do it,” Colon warned.

Body camera footage released by state Inspector General Robert Devlin, who by protocol investigates police-involved shootings, captures the wildly sprinting Stephenson on Birdseye Street on the Wide Side rushing Colon who shoots him in the leg.

From Lisa Backus, CT Post:

Stephenson was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition as of Monday, Devlin said. The 49-year-old has been charged with attempted first-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the incident and is being held on $100,000 bond. He is slated to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on June 11.

The city’s emergency communications center received multiple calls shortly before 5:55 a.m. Thursday, reporting a suspicious man was carrying a knife in the 200 block of Birdseye Street, Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran said.

The man later identified at Stephenson was “acting erratically, knocking on doors and brandishing a knife,” Devlin said in his report.

  1. Since we are in an identifying era, what team/side does the CtPost identify with? They seem to not be on the team/side of the. JS

I mean this was their headline when this incident first happened. ‘Bridgeport police shot man brandishing a knife on Birdseye Street, officials say” Article makes the knife brandishing “attacker” passive, unwarranted of being shot.

It’s official. The CtPost is the NWA of the police, always looking to shine the police in a negative light. 🙂 Good job, side/team. 🙂

P.S. Does anyone find it ironic one day you are singing” F-the Police” and then another day you are playing the police? 🤣

  2. Case in point, here’s cops responding to a call for a man with a knife knocking on doors. They pulled up and within seconds the man charged the officer with a butcher knife, and New 12 entered the notion that the officer could have done something different other not shoot him, just for cannon fodder to those who “IDENTIFY” as anti-police/F-the-police, regardless. One person even made a comment about how the officer 👮 tried to block the camera with their car. SMH

Clearly, this person was having an episode of crisis. Perhaps the social worker should have taken the call.

Ok, people dust off your police “IDENTITY” identification for a Trump presidency. talking to you to news outlets, considering there have to have been questionable ligament police encounters of “white” officers that have not been widely reported on under Biden’s presidency. JS

I wonder if Police IDENTITY is based on political parties D and R, similar to gender season IDENTITY. 🙂
