    1. Harvey, can you get beyond the production values? Listen to the words and work at their meaning, please. Seventeen years behind bars provides time for lots of reflection and decisions when you get outside about the way you will lead your life into the future. How many folks like this are alone, without a direction, and with few folks offering genuine attention? It is the body politic of this community to a larger extent than in our neighboring communities.
Good, bad or indifferent, each of us needs to own our activities, our behavior, what we bring to the community daily in terms of work, spirit, and a giving nature. We need to own that behavior as Lyle Hassan Jones has said recently.
Where the behavior has been harmful to an individual, a group, or the community at large, the person responsible (who is the owner of the actions) must announce their behavior with no lack of clarity or specificity and ask for forgiveness of the person, family or group who was harmed.
The third step may occur when the ownership, contrition, and request for forgiveness yields a positive response. That is human behavior learning how to become more human and alive to opportunity. Forgiveness can be a graced way. Forgetfulness is less than a true way, for it uses so much energy to deny experience, and does not open space for all to grow.
Do we want economic growth? Do we wish for educational opportunity for youth? Do we want genuine healing for the many people who feel they have been ignored yet maintain respect for themselves and others? Isn’t this a real campaign? Time will tell.

    1. Frank, you know what’s best for you but now that you have made it known that you are not going to vote would you think about those who came before us, people we don’t know who march, picket, who fought, who got jailed some who died for all Americans to have the right to vote, thanks.

  2. Frank, I believe voting is a cornerstone of democracy, so I would hope that everyone feels empowered to exercise their right to vote.

Voting—like freedom of speech—is a constitutional right in America that allows you to make your voice heard. In many countries, voting is not a right and citizens have little or no choice in who is elected to lead their country, their city or their state. So, why not engage in this distinctly American activity if you are allowed and encouraged to? Your vote might just change the city for the better.

  3. OIB fun loving commentators should love this historic tug of war. I’m waiting for what will be in OIB comment boxes after Judge Stevens hands down his ruling & after SEEC finishes its investigation. This current ugliness is historic. How many ABs R already in play?
