  1. I just don’t comprehend how Mayor Ganim has the audacity to EVER talk about what he has done for the 20,400 students of Bridgeport because he and the majority of City Council have done nothing for our 20,400 students.

The new WHHS was approved, bonded for and under construction BEFORE he was ever elected.

Bassick High School is completely stalled.

    1. Maria, that’s the best you can do abut Mayor Joe Ganim who has been in charge of Bridgeport for the past 3 years but you write a book report about Marilyn Moore who has never been mayor.

  2. Mr. Mackey,

Do you comprehend that I don’t owe you an explanation for any comments I post on OIB?

Do you comprehend that I do not report to you in any shape or form?

Do you comprehend that I will choose to support or oppose any candidate I so choose?

Marilyn Moore had done exactly what Joe Ganim has done for our deserving 20,400 BPS students, and that would be absolutely nothing.

She has the audacity to publicly state that if elected she will increase BPS funding by “5% over time.” I assure you if you asked her what 5% of the municipal contribution to the BPS is she would not know.

It is approximately $3.4 million which is nothing in a single year never mind “over time.”

Do NOT try to reprimand me on my posts as the only person that makes those decisions is ME.

    Got it? Good.

      1. I am talking to YOU!

It is you that has the audacity to keep trying to reprimand me for NOT supporting Marilyn Moore.

What you don’t like is that I am able to post FACTS about Marilyn Moore that do not portray her is the most flattering light.

I don’t hate Marilyn Moore. I simply think that she is often condescending, snooty, and has done absolutely nothing for our 20,400 students.

I don’t want to help replace a Mayor that has done NOTHING for our 20,400 students with another Mayor thas has done absolutely NOTHING for our 20,400 students.

I am tired of mediocrity. I want excellence.

Take your Black this and your Black that and shove it up your big Black _ss.

  4. Harvey, I hear you and I understand your position and you are not alone with your feelings but we all have a duty and a responsible to vote. We have a right to vote but there are people all over the world who are fighting for the right to vote. As a black man I understand how important it is to vote, I watch on TV about blacks in the 1960’s we’re beaten, police dogs bitting them and firefighters spraying high power stream of water on people just trying to register to vote.

    1. No, Ron we DO NOT have a duty and responsibility to vote.
We have a right to vote and the freedom NOT to vote.
There are countries where voting is mandatory with fines and imprisonment facing those who choose not to do so.
Americans are FREE to decide whether or not to vote for any office in any election.
Freedom of speech includes the right to express oneself by silence. If the choices disgust you, you may choose to make it known by your absence from the voting booth.
Certainly not one of the mayoral candidates received the votes of the majority of party members in Bridgeport. The majority did not vote…by choice.

      1. Actually we DO have a duty to vote, Marshall. That same attitude (and voter disenfranchisement) has allowed the election of felons like Ganim and Ernie “Moses” Newton. Neither has offered anything remotely resembling contrition for their crimes.

        1. NO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The definition of DUTY is a task or obligation that one is required to perform. Rights are not Duties. There is no requirement that a US citizen vote, only that the citizen has the right to vote.
As for myself, I have voted in every election since 1972 (don’t blame me I voted McGovern, not Nixon), BUT I do not vote for every office on the ballot. If the choices disgust me I move on to the next office.

  5. Marshall, we do have a responsibility and a duty to vote, yet we have the freedom to not to vote. Those things can and are mutually exclusive.
Harvey, to write Jeff Kohut on your ballot is no difference that throwing you vote away or not voting at all. Harvey if you are honest with yourself you know damn well that Senator Moore is by far and away the better candidate for the mayor of Bridgeport. Don’t be blinded by the fact that Maria is fighting against Senator Moore because of her love and respect for Judge Lopez and the fact that Senator Moore refused to reach out to said judge! There’s no one in their right mind that thinks, feel or believes that Mayor Ganim or Jeff would make a better mayor than Senator Marilyn Moore and the mistake of not getting enough ballots to run on the WFP line should not be exclusionary. It was nothing more than a mistake and nothing close to going to prison for almost a decade. You’ve known Maria for a long time and you know like most of us is that she is bitter and divisive and destroys everything she touches. C’mon people, give Bridgeport a chance to live out is full potential, one where secrecy will not be tolerated and one where Transparency is the rule of the day. Mayor Ganim has never and will never give you that.

    1. Don, it’s amazing how fast people forgot about the election in 2015 and the mistakes at that time that were made by incumbent mayor Bill Finch that cause him not to get on the ballot that November 2015 after his lost in the primary. There is no one on OIB who has attack Senator Marilyn Moore more than Maria, nobody but it was Joe Ganim, Mario Testa and Dennis Bradley who attacked Maria during her time on the BBOE, they organized a boycott at BBOE meetings against Maria until she gave her resignation from the BBOE, not Marilyn Moore. Marilyn has not done anything to hurt Maria but Maria hates Senator Moore and for what reason, Don you gave one reason, now are there any other reasons for Maria’s hate of Senator Moore?

    2. Sorry Donald,
Again I post that the definition of DUTY is a task or action that one is REQUIRED to perform. US Citizens are NOT required to vote. They have no duty to do so. They have the RIGHT to vote. BUT rights are exercised by choice. There is no choice in performing a duty. Non-performance of a duty comes with a penalty.

  6. Don, it was Jill Stein who gave America 45 because some voters didn’t like Hillary or 45 and look how that’s worked out for America and now Maria is telling people to vote for Jeff Kohut which is a vote for Joe Ganim and Mario Testa, thanks Maria.
