Klein After School Program Hits Road

ASK at Testo's 9 May 2016

News release from the Klein

The students from After School at The Klein (ASK) will make their first public appearance of 2016 on Monday May 9th at 6pm at Testo’s Restaurant. Funds raised from this community concert and dinner will support the Klein’s innovative arts education program, now in its third successful year. Since its inception, over 200 Bridgeport students in grades 7 through 12 have benefited from instruction in music, dance and acting, all taught by industry professionals. ASK is the only tuition free after school arts education program available in Bridgeport.

In addition to staging two concerts at The Klein each year, the students also perform in the Bridgeport parades, at Port 5 Naval Club in Black Rock, the West Indian Jerk Fest and Little Asia Lunar Festival. Last June 8, ASK dancers auditioned and won the opportunity to compete in “Amateur Night at the Apollo,” the famed program at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem. Just last month, The Klein also took the entire class to a matinee performance of “Jersey Boys,” the first ever trip to a Broadway show for a majority of the students.

Reservations for the 6:00pm dinner and performance at Testo’s can be made by emailing molly@theklein.org, or by calling (800) 424-0160 ext 2 option 3. The suggested donation is $30 and there will be a cash bar. Testo’s Restaurant is located at 1775 Madison Avenue in Bridgeport.
