Health Director Approval On City Council Agenda

Monday night’s City Council meeting should be a quick one with most agenda items referred to committees, boards and commissions, but an item addendum involves approval of Mayor Joe Ganim’s nomination of Maritza Bond as director of health.

A mayoral proclamation and City Council citation will also recognize “Fallen Bridgeport Police Officer Gerald T. DiJoseph for his Valor, Devotion to Duty and Sacrifice in the line of Duty by the Dedication of a Portion of James Street as ‘Officer Gerald T. DiJoseph Way’.” In 1981, DiJoseph was shot to death checking on a motor vehicle parked in a garage in the Hollow neighborhood.

A communication from the City Attorney’s Office that will be referred to the Contracts Committee involves a lease extension of the Ballpark at Harbor Yard to the management and owners of the Bridgeport Bluefish baseball team. The ballpark, opened in 1998, is owned by the city.
