  1. BTW,CT POST is reporting that State Senator Marilyn Moore and State Rep Rev. Charles Stallingworth are talking about whom might be the best candidate against Ganim. As far as I’m concerned,Stallworth is an intrinsic part of the TestaGanim cabal and that means NO WAY would I vote for Stallingworth.

  2. Stallworth cannot transcend into more educated and affluent communities. I have repeatedly demonstrated he cannot win Thomas Hooker Precinct.

He lives in the Park City Magnet Precinct and I beat him in his own backyard.

I am shocked Marilyn Moore would be having such conversations with Stallworth.

  3. I will not vote for Stallingworth. This may be presumptuous of me but I do not think that most of Marilyn Moore’s supporters and voters will vote for Stallingworth. NO WAY.

  4. Just because you give a person the respect to listen to what they have to say doesn’t mean you subscribe to their ideology. I think this shows that a collaboration of people in Bridgeport are sick and tired of being sick and tired of Mayor Ganim and they are willing to put their differences aside for the common good.

      1. Frank, an your point is? The only you can beat Ganim is a straight up vote of one person running against Ganim to have s chance to win, what’s so hard about understanding that.

          1. And … Ron,
What is your point. Are you ready to support the Rev/ State Rep Charles Stallingworth?

          2. Frank, at no time did I say anything about voting for Stallworth. Again, my main point is in order to beat Joe Ganim there must be only one person in the race, if there are two or more candidates Ganim wins. Joe and Mario will look to draft someone else to run because they need votes spilt.

            Michael C had this right.

  5. Frank Gyure, The candidate you are questioning is Reverand and State Rep. Charles Stallworth. Today, Ned Lamont introduced the tribes to discuss a Casino in Bridgeport. It is clear Governor Lamont is keeping his promise and that is great for Mayor Ganim and will help market Steelepointe. The bridge connecting Downtown to the eastside is icing on the cake. The only thing people are wondering is who will be the sacrificial Republican candidate for Mayor? Never mind. Nobody is thinking that and in Bridgeport anyone that believes a working Party Candidate can win in Bridgeport is just plain delusional . Did someone say Moore would bypass a Democratic Primary and run on the Working Families Party Line? That would float like a lead balloon. Good luck to all of the candidates and all of the fundraisers. It is very exciting for sure. Lets not forget Tony Barr is considering a run for Mayor. I commend all individuals that want to serve our city. I expect over the next few months there will be a lot of exciting things happening in the city. The Park City will be in full bloom and candidates will be raising a ton of cash! Some people will be excited about future prospects and others will be negative and miserable

Everybody have a safe weekend with the coming storm and remember Dr, Martin Luther King and keep the dream alive!

  6. Frank Gyure, here’s a little history that I looked up about Bridgeport elections for mayor that makes my point.

In 1978, Leonard S. “Lenny” Paoletta ran unsuccessfully for mayor against Democratic incumbent John C. Mandanici, although Paoletta held Mandanici to his smallest margin of victory in his three elections.[1] In 1980, Paoletta (then age 48) again challenged Mandanici and was successful, narrowly edging out the incumbent by just 64 votes (17,950 to 17,886 votes, following a recount).[1][5] The New York Times reported at the time that “In what is virtually a trademark of Bridgeport politics, the mayoral campaign was held against a backdrop of violence and bizarre incidents.”[1] Paoletta was sworn in on his 47th birthday, becoming Bridgeport’s 47th elected mayor.

In 1982, Paoletta won reelection, defeating both Democratic challenger Charles B. Tisdale and Mandanici (who ran under the third party “Taxpayers Party” ballot line after losing the Democratic primary election to Tisdale).[5] Paoletta received 15,606 votes, Tisdale 14,358 votes, and Mandanici 9,728 votes.

Frank, think about that, a third candidate got 9,728 votes, that’s enough votes to get elected mayor in most elections in Bridgeport. Again, if Charlie Stallworth stays in the running for mayor in 2020 Democrat primary against Marilyn Moore then Joe Ganim will get reelected as mayor.

    1. Ron,
I absolutely agree with you. A divided opposition will only help Ganim. Each vote counts. I can even go back to the Hugh Curran-Nick Panuzio election. The Democrat Curran was the incumbent but Republican Nick Panuzio beat him by 9 votes(if my memory holds up). The question therefore is :Who is the ONE best mayoral candidate to beat Ganim. It certainly will not be the BPT Republican mayoral candidate.

      1. Frank, it will always who wins the Democrat primary unless there’s another John Mandanici type hanging around hoping to get paid not to run and there are a few like that who just might.

  7. bTW… there is an interesting idea being brought before the City Council. And it follows….. MATTERS TO BE ACTED UPON (CONSENT CALENDAR):
Ordinance Committee Report re: Amendments to the Municipal Code of Ordinances, Title 8 – Health and Safety, amend Chapter 8.90 – Regulation of the Marketing of Tobacco Products to Children.

Do we think that the City Council should get involved in the age of purchase of cigarette products in the City of Bridgeport. It is an admirable goal. However,I would submit that this issue remains in the responsibility of the level of state government,NOT municipal government. It feels good but it will pretty much be ineffective. Remember Prohibition and the New York State Rockefeller laws. Both ,dismal failures. The greater challenge is that we have young teens considering possession of firearms as a “sign of adulthood.” Being able to smoke is not even on the radar.

    1. Frank, just more feel good Ordinance for the City Council and the mayor to run on for reelection, the council did the same thing when two asphalt plants were in the making, one for the South End and the other for the East End by the Pleasure Beach Bridge, Mayor Ganim and the City Council did NOTHING to stop it. It was then State Rep. Chris Caruso who did the research about health issues childhood asthma. The State House of Representatives had a unanimous vote for a two year moratorium on new asphalt plants in 1998. Campaign money for reelection had been given out to build those two asphalt plants.

  8. Ron,’
I just came across this article. I think this issue is having a far greater effect today than we may realize. this is an issue that is under the radar….
