Tentative Deal Reached For Teachers Contract

From Richard Chumney, CT Post:

The union that represents the city’s 1,500 or so teachers has reached a tentative agreement with Bridgeport Public Schools for a new four-year contract, according to union and district officials.

The terms of the yet-to-be-approved agreement, which were hashed out with the help of mediators, were not immediately released. Bridgeport Education Association President Jeff Morrissey said the union’s members are scheduled to vote Thursday to accept or reject the contract.

…The new contract would replace the union’s existing four-year agreement, which is set to expire at the end of June. If approved by union members and the Bridgeport Board of Education, the document would be in effect through mid-2028.

…In the current school year, Bridgeport salaries range between $45,591 for teachers new to the job and $100,497 for veteran educators with advanced degrees, a slight increase from a year earlier, according to the 62-page agreement.
