SuBy: Malloy Wins, No Recount Necessary

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz has declared Democrat Dan Malloy the unofficial winner of the governor’s race over Republican Tom Foley by 3103 votes. Final certification is expected when cities and towns officially certify the results to her office.

She said at a noon news conference today that a recount will not be necessary because state law for statewide elections requires a recount when opponents are separated by fewer than 2,000 votes. In Bridgeport, she said, Malloy received 19,148 votes to Foley’s 6502.

Expect a GOP court challenge.

  1. *** Not like the problem with ballets in Bpt was going to help Foley win the election anyway but the GOP is desperate so a court appeal is in order. *** Snake Eyes ***
