  1. Taking a hard look at the R gubernatorial candidates, the delegates are going to realize that the smartest, most reasonable candidate, with the broadest and deepest experience and exposure relevant to Connecticut’s 2018 gubernatorial needs, is David Walker. The other candidates fall into the categories of personality instabilities/immaturity (Herbst), radical extremism (Lumaj), convalescing from serious medical conditions (Boughton), and too inexperienced and/or politically inept and/or politically stale (fill in the blanks)…

Don’t be surprised to see David Walker take the nomination along with Erin Stewart as his running mate… It would be a geographically and demographically smart move by the Republicans to run with these two excellent candidates…

At this point, I can’t say who I’m voting for — except that it won’t be Gold Coast Ned Lamont, which would translate into a seamless continuation of the Malloy years… None of the other candidates have said enough about how they will fix the state and its cities — although all of the candidates have said that they will… Same mantra by all of the candidates for any given Connecticut gubernatorial election — with the only variations being on where they will cut spending and where they will increase revenue even as they decrease taxes… Same bs, different election… So far nothing new, so can’t say who I will vote for until I hear something(s) specific and exciting — and new — about fixing the state that makes sense and doesn’t put us in competition with surrounding states that already have a jump on us… (If worst comes to worst, I’ll just do a write-in vote… (Too bad that Rosa DeLauro isn’t running for governor — I would vote for her in a heartbeat just based on her Congressional performance… Now, if she were to run as Gold Coast Ned’s running mate, considering that he’ll most-likely abandon ship to run for the US Senate in 2020, then I could vote for that team… But, on the same token, if she wanted to run for US Senator, she could probably win… One has to wonder what is on her mind, politically, especially since she has served so long and might well be considering retirement…)

    1. Rosa DeLauro is a poster girl for term limits. Being in politics was never meant to be a career regardless how, supposedly good the politician is. If you couldn’t move up, you had to move out.
She is a lifelong legislator with no administrative experience.

  2. Gov Malloy is the worse governor in America but he’s not running. Why in the world would voters in Bridgeport, New Haven, Hartford and Waterbury vote for any Republican? These are cities where the majority and their voters are black and Hispanic who know and see that Republicans don’t give a damn about them, in fact they see it every day with 45 and his language and policies makes it crystal clear there are no friends with any Republican. Just look at the racial makeup of the Republican delegates at this 2018 convention, it’s Lilly white.

    1. That gets back to the issue of Blacks voting blindly for the Democrats, who have done little for the good of African/Americans besides providing cradle to grave economic support with little good in rehabilitating what are now “ghetto” neighborhoods. And…don’t forget that until Lyndon Johnson’s presidency, the KKK was the enforcing arm of the Democrats (read Dixiecrats). Try not and forget that the Republican Party’s famous president was Abraham Lincoln. And any thought of “Jim Crow” politics is still in existence thanks to their creation by the Democratic Party.

    2. Oh, I forgot Ron…those African/Americans who represent their states in Congress like Tim Scott are not included by the Democrats in the Black Caucus of the AMERICAN United States Congress.
Please explain this to our readers if you can.

      1. Bob, it’s obvious that you don’t know American history, you mention Dixiecrats, they were the Southern Democrats who seceded from the party in 1948 in opposition to its policy of extending civil rights. At that time the North was mainly Republicans and the South were Democrats. All of that changed after President Lyndon Johnson a Democrat signed into law the Civil Rights Acts of 1965 and 1968 everything changed, those Dixiecrats changed right away to Republicans because of their hatred of blacks having civil rights. Lee Atwater’s “Southern Strategy” that put Republican Richard Nixon into the White House and that mindset of the Republican Party has never changed.

  4. Why wouldn’t black’s vote Republican, you’ve got to be kidding or a damn fool.

The outcome of Trump’s America was displayed to Republicans like a psychic with a crystal ball, and they carried on anyway. Countless times did Donald J. Trump allow bigotry, violence, and racism to fuel his campaign to gain votes. When will Republicans take responsibility for allowing the events in Charlottesville (and other damages) to happen?

Taking responsibility for the actions of the president means publicly acknowledging that Donald J. Trump represents racist, misogynistic beliefs. In addition, Republican accountability would entail organizing ways to remove him from office and admitting their mistake of nominating him to represent the GOP (and the entire United States) as a whole – not just for the sake of the Republican Party, but for the respect toward righteous citizens and international embarrassment.

The GOP cannot pretend their opponents didn’t warn them and yet they continue to support this man and his agenda. Yet some white fools on OIB think that black’s vote blindly against our own best interests and should vote Republican. Until you’ve walk a mile in a Black man’s shoes you should keep your ignorant views to your self because Black people don’t need nor want your opinions on what’s best for us. Oh by the way you’ll never be able to walk in our shoes.

    1. Don, these Republicans expect black men like us to sit back and say nothing and to “stay in our place” because they know what’s best for us and to be blind and just except whatever they say and do. What a joke, they got two black men who don’t give a damming about them. Remember when they were always talking about merit and having the most qualified person for the position well that’s gone when they elected 45. Remember Obama wasn’t born in America and not a American.

  5. Anyone can use “Us, we, they, them, our” when they are in an intelligent, cogent manner which precludes you Owen. You are indeed one of those fools that I alluded to in my earlier post. My only question to you is who moved the rock that allowed you to crawled from under?

  6. *** O.D sounds like many of the paranoid, T-party, GOP, right-wing nationalist, etc.. that were fooled by the N.Y real-estate con-man that promised the world but in the end will probably be remembered as one of the worst U.S Presidents in American History. Trump’s time in office will be remembered as one of the lowest points in time of our democratic nation! Anyone who voted for Trump, etc.. looked the other way, made excuses for him & his policys & share in his views, lies and hatred, will forever make excuses and lay blame for the blackness that stains their hearts! *** Light will always expose what is in the dark, no? ***

    1. Mojo, OD OD, he’s needs to be in recovery. Remember, he’s a victim because some black or Puerto Rican or white female got hired over him and he blames everybody. Then 45 shows up as the hero of those white male high school grads or dropout who’s going to make America great again like in the 1940’s and 50’s white was right. He’s probably in his basement now cleaning his rifle while he’s looking at pictures of Stormy Daniels.
