Incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont (D) has a wide lead over the challengers seeking his position, a Sacred Heart University/WFSB/CT Insider poll finds. The July poll of 1,000 registered voters is the first of three that will be conducted before the midterm elections.
Lamont’s path to November isn’t entirely clear. He faces a challenge from state Rep. The poll, though, shows Lamont more than doubling Elliott’s support, 57% to 22% among Democrats.
His race against the Republican nominee, state Sen. Ryan Fazio, is a bit closer. Lamont leads Fazio by more than 20 points, already earning a majority of the electorate’s support.
