Smart move having a Hearst Media reporter shadowing the rollout of your campaign for governor. Not so handy when your driver does 100 MPH, or close to it. Reporter Neil Vigdor was inside the wheels and captures the moment. Gee Joe, if you wanted rollout attention, you sure got it. Go get ’em Viggy! State police said the vehicle was clocked by laser at 87 miles per hour and the trooper used his discretion to issue a verbal warning.

Joe Ganim got out the starting blocks of his gubernatorial odyssey Wednesday fast–too fast.

The SUV the Bridgeport mayor was riding in between campaign stops in Hartford and Waterbury was pulled over for speeding by State Police on Interstate 84 in Southington.

The rented Ford Expedition with Pennsylvania plates was being driven by Ramon Garcia. It was traveling 100 miles per hour.

“A little bit fast,” the state trooper said to Ganim through the passenger side.

  1. This is a joke guess the laws don’t apply to Ganim. Here is what should happen:
    1. Ticket should be issued for doing 100mph
    2. Trooper who did not write the ticket should be given a couple of days off.
    2 Ganims driver should be sent back to his regular job after getting unpaid time off.
    This is just another part showing Ganim and his people think they are above the law. I guess they are

    I feel sorry for the State police officer who was just extending a professional courtesy to a Brother officer and the mayor of a city. What this officer didn’t know nor was aware of is that his professional courtesy was being recorded or documented, but Ganim and Garcia did and they still let this officer put his career or his family’s livelihood on the line.

    That’s about as low as two people can get when you let your actions hurt someone who was just trying to throw you a solid. Mayor Ganim, that’s the kinda shit that gives people pause for concern with your gubernatorial ambitions, your mayoral abilities and you as a man. You should have insisted that the State police officer ticket your driver because you knew that you were being shadowed and that this would call into question this officers judgement and have unintended consequences for him. Shame on you.

    1. I agree Donald. I think it shows a perfect example of the JG arrogance, and frankly, the trooper needed to give his brother at the very least a written warning. With all the negative media coverage of police appearing to be getting away with murder, examples like this only support the narrative, in my opinion. There’s a fine line between a professional courtesy and protecting our own, at 100 MPH, that line was crossed at 70.

        My sister who was a cop once told me that a professional courtesy is extended to police and firefighters as a recognition of the fact that like them they are putting their lives on the line every day they go to work. But by the same token they have extended that to John Q public as well. Give the police a break and save your or ire for Joe Ganim and his arrogance.

I was not running for office, I was not going almost double the speed limit, and I didn’t have a reporter in the car with me. I see your point, and overall agree with you.

      “I must go back two years ago to the apology from Mayor Ganim speaking at the 2015 Emancipation event at East End Baptist Tabernacle Church, this event jump started Joe Ganim’s comeback. At no time did Joe Ganim acknowledge the event and why all of these black pastors were there for Emancipation Day program held on New Years Day and the reason for this celebration. Ganim had no knowledge or understanding “Watch Night Service” held every New Year Eve as the New Year comes in.”

Just like those pastors who were there, I like them believe in giving someone a second chance especially when the person acknowledges their wrong doing and atone for their action.     But the quote you included to show the profound disparity was not necessary to make the case.
    Can you remember back to the 3d or 4th grade when a teacher would ask the class weekly for quotes from famous Americans and we all got a grounding from Emerson, Lincoln, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Nathan Hale, Patrick Henry, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, etc.?
    In the final summation, do we really care what such narcissistic, fundamentally distracted, with sole concern for self-advancement and profoundly ignorant of what an American President (rather than a TV celebrity) should look and sound like, says about almost anything? Hopefully his words will become buried after being thoroughly vetted by Mueller and his team. And sooner is better in this case than later, as it appears that this President did not have what it takes to “make America great again”. And if I am right perhaps we should all be talking about what might be the things that would make Bridgeport, CT, and America better, greater, positive and growing. Those ideas, coming from the ambitions of many will shape our future with more potency than what has paraded too often and for too many hours each day in recent time. What are the lessons that we Americans celebrate from history? How are they important today? Time will tell.

The Attorney General, the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the country, serves the interests of the people, not the personal interests of the POTUS.     The American corporate world lobbied hard while the GOP was behind closed doors hammering out a tax bill that would benefit the 10% over 90%. Trump thinks this is terrific, really good for the economy, making rich people richer. How does that tax benefit you, Andy?
