How To Rate Police Work–Chief Porter Launches Public Survey Engagement

Patrol Officer Roxanne Edwards, assigned to the East End, joined Chief Roderick Porter on Tuesday during his Facebook live segment to discuss a new initiative centered on anonymous public surveys of police officer interaction.

Edwards provides insight into the nuances of urban police work and community engagement.

The department has partnered with tech company GovMetrics. Officer Survey provides law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to build relationships with the communities they serve and measure procedural justice based on officer interactions.

The survey card is equipped with a QR code scanned by a digital device to offer public feedback. The cards are distributed by police officers.

Edwards explains that for some residents the survey may be awkward so she compares it to a restaurant visit. How was the service? Was your food brought out hot or cold?
