Crunch Time To Primary Day Voting

Sample primary ballot for citywide offices.

This is it, the frenzy leading to Tuesday’s Democratic primary for mayor and other municipal offices. Candidates and operatives will fan out across the city for final door knocks, door hangers and last-minute lit drops. Tuesday is all about yanking people to the polls.

Mayor Joe Ganim’s camp Sunday night will host a rally at the East End church of city minister and candidate for town clerk Charlie Stallworth.

Absentee ballots could provide roughly 25 percent of the turnout.

The campaign operations of Ganim and opponent  John Gomes are now in chase mode to touch base with early voters to send in their ballots. State law has made it easier to vote early. Just the fear of illness on voting day allows the elector to vote absentee.

If you’re unavailable to vote Tuesday but haven’t mailed in an absentee ballot, visit the Town Clerk’s Office on Monday to cast a vote.

Tuesday noon is the deadline for registering in person with the registrar of voters or town clerk to vote in the primary.

Polls will be open 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.

  1. I voted already. I’ll be on my way to El Salvador tonight. I’m looking forward to meeting members and officials of the best Political Party–Nuevas Idea–to come into power in the North, South, and Central American region. New Ideas is what I’m about from here on forward.

The Ganim administration hasn’t been a perfect one. For anyone to believe the Gomes team will deliver anything better than we’ve had, I have a few Volcanos in El Salvador to sell for cheaper than the cost of a single Joe Ganim mailer.

The A-team has my blessing and support. I’ll wait for Judge Carmen Lopez, she is still my #1 choice.
