Hold on to your wallets. Former Lieutenant Governor Kevin Sullivan is the new tax man. From Dan Malloy:

MALLOY NAMES KEVIN SULLIVAN AS COMMISSIONER OF DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE SERVICES

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor-Elect Dan Malloy today tapped Kevin Sullivan to lead the Department of Revenue Services. Sullivan is currently the President of The Children’s Museum in West Hartford.

“I’ve known Kevin for years, and while he’s no longer a public official, that’s never stopped his commitment to public service,” said Governor-Elect Malloy. “As commissioner, Kevin will draw upon his experiences and relationships borne out of his time in the legislature to help Connecticut find new and innovative ways in which to collect the money it is due. I look forward to working with Kevin again.”

“I’m honored that Governor-Elect Malloy believes my skills and experience will be of use to him in his administration,” said Sullivan. “I’m looking forward to stepping back into public service on behalf of the people of the state of Connecticut.”

Prior to serving as President of The Children’s Museum, Sullivan was Lieutenant Governor from 2004-2007. First elected as a State Senator in 1986, Sullivan led the State Senate as President Pro Tempore from 1997 to 2004. Sullivan has chaired the national Senate President’s Forum, been active in the National Legislative Leaders Foundation and was nationally selected to participate in the University of Virginia’s Program for Emerging Political Leaders. He previously served on the West Hartford Town Council and as Mayor of the town. He is President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a member of the Rotary Club and League of Women Voters, founded the State Capitol Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, organized the first Connecticut-Israel Exchange Commission, and established the CT-N state information network.

Kevin Sullivan grew up in West Hartford where he attended local public schools. He was the first in his family to have the opportunity to go to college. He graduated with honors from Trinity College in 1971, where he was recognized for civil rights activity and community service. In 1982, he graduated from the University of Connecticut School Of Law. As an attorney, he has practiced administrative, telecommunications and banking law. He has also served as an Assistant to the State Commissioner of Education and, most recently as a Vice President at Trinity College in Hartford where he oversaw the college’s successful community and institutional initiatives as well as lecturing in public policy. Kevin and his wife, Dr. Carolyn Thornberry reside in West Hartford.
