From Brian Lockhart, CT Post:
A council member arrested last summer after allegedly threatening the head of public facilities has notified the city he intends to sue over how he says he was treated by police and municipal officials.
Councilman Alfredo Castillo, through his attorney, Dennis Bradley, last week filed an “intent to commence legal action” for civil rights violations, false imprisonment, and “emotional distress, damage to reputation (and) livelihood, anxiety and a general shock to his nervous system.”
The Democrat was arrested Aug. 19 and charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening–both misdemeanors–related to his alleged altercation with Acting Public Facilities Director Craig Nadrizny outside of the city’s Wonderland of Ice rinks.
He has pleaded not guilty and is next due in court June 2.
Nadrizny in a police complaint filed Aug. 4 stated that he had responded to Castillo’s request to meet outside Wonderland the previous day. According to Nadrizny, Castillo wanted to know when public facilities was going to repair the building’s exterior doors and, after being told that was the tenant’s responsibility, Castillo allegedly began yelling at Nadrizny.
Nadrizny, according to the police report, claimed Castillo “stood in front of” him as he tried to climb back into his vehicle to leave, “pumping his chest” and threatening him.
The arrest warrant also stated that Castillo during the Aug. 3 encounter “periodically” yelled, “I am a councilman. You do as I say. Do you know who you are dealing with?”

Lennie, you seem to think that everyone has a ctpost subscription (I do) required in order to be able to read ctpist articles. The minute one links to the damn articles, one gets bombarded with pop-up ads the interferes with reading the articles. It sucks and it be better if you provide the basic story. I know the ctpost doesn’t appreciate others copying their material but, I don’t appreciate paying for news service I can’t read because the fucking bombardment of unsolicited advertising. Is there some other way or news source you can link us to?
It appears that Castillo believes that Bradley will beat the federal charges or will be around long enough to defend him in this legal matter. Can you say, “Frivolous lawsuits?” Paging Jessica Martinez: I believe you have sufficient grounds and proof to file a legal malpractice lawsuit against Attorney Bradley and BKG firm.
