Woman Arrested For Fatal Shooting

From Public Safety spokesman Bill Kaempffer:

Detectives arrested a 36-year-old woman in connection with a fatal shooting stemming from what appears to be a domestic dispute. Detectives charged Griselle Pizarro, 36, with murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm in relation to the fatal shooting of her boyfriend, Jacob Lopez.

This morning at 1:17, police responded to the 200 block of Huntington Turnpike and located Lopez outside of a light-colored pick-up truck. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 6 a.m.

While en route to the hospital, he made a statement that “Griselle shot me.”

“We take all gun violence very seriously, and this remains a very active investigation. The priority always is keeping our kids and families safe,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. “The investigation doesn’t end with an arrest.”

Detectives immediately began investigating and identified the suspect as Pizarro. Investigators went to her house on Evers Court in Bridgeport and located her there.

In an interview at police headquarters, Pizarro acknowledged that she shot Lopez. She proceeded to state that she and Lopez were in the pick-up truck talking and that he physically assaulted her. She said during the assault she took a handgun from her purse and fired several shots.

She then fled on foot to her home, where police later located her. Police recovered a .40-caliber handgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.

  1. A neighborhood I was born in and still live in is dying a slow and painful death. If anyone wants to see what scatter-type housing and absentee landlords do, look at this neighborhood and check what has happened here in the last 15 years.
