When A Political Pissing Contest Goes Viral–Yes, OIB

Urine or you’re out? That was the throwdown Board of Education member Maria Pereira issued last week to City Councilman Ernie Newton, both of whom have questioned each other’s chemical intake in OIB’s comments section. Ernie said bring it on. Maria said me too. Both tested negative at a North End lab. Maria paid for the tests.

Phew! Just think if one came up positive. Anyhoo, our friends at Channel 8’s CT Capitol Report hosted by Tom Dudchik tinkled the political pissing contest in their opening segment on, of all things, Easter Sunday. Hmmm, any urine samples left over to color Easter eggs?

By the way both Ernie and Maria are up for reelection this year. Just imagine the mail pieces.”Vote for me. I’m clean!”

We can think of a few others …

          1. Ernie,

My test clearly states negative. You are spouting rhetoric. Empty, baseless rhetoric.

Stop writing poor sentences with TRUMPed up accusations.

The proof is in the pudding. Put up or shut up.

Post your proof. I’ll wait a very long time.

          2. CT Post October 20, 1988.
Ernest Newton agrees to pay $1,000 as a civil penalty after admitting he filled out Ada Crosby’s absentee ballot for her, requested she sign the inner envelope and then mailed it for her with her consent. The action was taken during the Sept. 14, 1988 primary in which Newton was a candidate for state representative from the 124th district.

Yup. AB fraud. Can you fill out someone’s ballot at a polling location? No, you can not. That would be voting fraud. When you fill out someone’s AB you are committing fraud.

Its what i’m doing today sir that counts. You must be of the believe once a sinner always a sinner. Thank God you ain’t GOD! My voters in my district put me in office. Derek just remember Every Saint has a Past and Every sinner has a future. I will never let my situation nor my location ever obscure my destination. Derek what ever you and others think about Ernie i could care less because I’m still standing!

  3. Ernie, I concur with everything that you said to Derek, that’s why you should have told Maria to go fluck herself. You had nothing to prove to yourself, to your family and friends or to your constituents.
As you can see this has become the joke of Bridgeport and the State of Connecticut. This did nothing to enhance the reputation, character or integrity of you or Maria. In fact it made you two the butt of an infinite amount of jokes at the expense of the city your both claim to love. You need to get off this train and let it ride without you.

    1. Don, I truly know that you looking out for the best for Ernie but unfortunately nothing you say or anybody else who like and care for Ernie can reach him. Just like 45 feels that he won and the investigation has cleared him Ernie thinks that the results of the drug test makes him s winner. It’s joke here and around the state, every challenge doesn’t have to be accepted and every question doesn’t need to be answered. Ernie is on his island and let him stay there.

  4. I for one had absolutely no issue with proving I am drug free. Now Ernie can repeatedly stop posting that I need to take my “meds,” that I overdosed on my meds and ended up in a psychiatric ward, that I am “crazy” and “cuckoo.”

Psychiatric meds were part of the 10 Panel Drug Test.

I don’t take any type of drugs except medications prescribed by a physician. I don’t smoke cigarettes, marijuana and I do not drink alcohol. Not even champagne at a wedding.

Unlike Ernie, I have never been addicted to any controlled ot illicit substances.

This has been put to rest.

Everyone knows you take Meds Paging Lennie, Maria you challenged me to a drug test because you taught i would test Positive. Remember i didn’t ask you to take a Drug test. Maria to thy own self be TRUE! Remember you are only lying to your self. I am so happy you challenged me because you and the world know i’m CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Are you going to continue to assert I take psychiatric meds although my test results clearly show I tested negative for psychiatric meds?

        Very Donald Trump like.

Here you go again with your bullshit. Yes you are a crazy woman you started this by calling me out and challenging to take a drug test that fact # 1 Fact # 2 All you do is bring up people’s past. You are a very lonely person who seeks attention because you are so damn miserable. Everyone including my friend and Brother Donald Day has question me on why would i take a drug test when i had nothing to prove to a sick person like you. I did it to show others that you don’t have to let crazy people like you push them around. I will always stand up against people like you Maria. What goes around comes around. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU WON”T FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME. TO THY OWN SELF BE TRUE!

  6. I am happy that the Stop&Shop strike is over. Truthfully,Stop&Shop was the most convenient store for me (by far). It “seems” that employees are happy to get back to work and “seem” satisfied by the contract. Anecdotal reporting by the Connecticut Post had examples of “management” welcoming employees and customers into the store. Union stewards had indicated that compromise had been made to resolve the strike. One would think that there would be rancor between individual store management/corporate management and employees. Again, through anecdotal reporting<none of that seemed to be in the air. Apropos, the settlement was reached over a Passover/Easter weekend.

  7. Frank I’m also happy that the Stop&Shop strike is over. I would guess that many employees really didn’t want to strike are also very happy to be back to work

    1. Lisa, nobody wants to strike but Lisa do you Stop and Shop owners would just give their union employees pay raises, insurance and health benefits on their own without a union and out of their concern for their employees that they would take care of those issues?

      1. Ron…there were employees on the news who said they didn’t really want to strike – they had their reasons for wanting to go to work.
I *know* that there are employers who would not have treated their employees fairly/equitably. but I also know from experience that despite the presence of a union, there are times when employees are not treated fairly and the union turns a blind eye. My daughter worked for Stop&Shop during high school and college. there was 1 time when she was needed the union and they were right there for her literally within hours. I never had that experience
we should meet for coffee one day and have a conversation

        1. Lisa, I’ve been elected to the executive board of three different unions, two private sector businesses and IAFF Local #834 Firefighter’s union. Union leaders know that at times that they will get a worker who will get in trouble and make it harder on their sisters and brothers but union must represent that person with the best of their ability to protect their job and benefits but at the same time those union leaders will make it known to that worker in private that messed up and that are hurting themselves and their coworkers.

Labor Unions: Duty of Fair Representation

I feel like my union has treated me unfairly. What are my rights?
A union owes a duty of fair representation to all of the workers it represents. This duty requires that the union act fairly, impartially, and without ill will or discrimination when pursuing a worker’s grievance or when negotiating a new contract with the employer. The union is required to take reasonable steps to investigate a grievance and must represent members in more than a dismissive manner. It is illegal for a union to treat you in ways that are:
          arbitrary (e.g., a union refuses to pursue your grievance without reason);
          discriminatory (e.g., a union refuses to pursue the grievances of all of its non-white workers);
or in bad faith (e.g., a union official fails to respond to your complaint just because he/she doesn’t like you).
If you feel that the union has treated you in one of these three ways and has breached its duty of fair representation, you may bring legal action against it.
However, the duty of fair representation does not require the union to pursue all grievances until the final possible stage of the grievance procedure or to take all the steps that the member might want it to. The duty of fair representation does not even require that the union do a particularly good job at representing grievances. Unions are only prohibited from acting in arbitrary or discriminatory ways, or in bad faith.

  8. Ernie your honor has been challenged by Maria so you peed in a cup 🙂 LOL . God knows the truth about you saying you have been clean for 24 years, and your votes voted for you before this “challenge” so you may have had nothing to fear, but you did have something to prove. It’s not that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. The question is should they beheld accountable for their past acts that leads them to their future? Because in your last court case that was overturned it seemed to be not about accountability for one’s past acts but more about the un-accountability of whites getting way it or at least getting off easier. What sin are we talking about? Day’s on point. It’s a joke of the City of Bridgeport governance. Good job elected officials. P.S. The Devil was an angel who challenged God. God be the glory.

  9. What a black eye for Bpt,that panel was literally laughing at Bpt,”after all,it IS Bpt”…Instead of them talking about a new development in Bpt,or anything positive about Bpt,instead they sit there and laugh at us,thanks Maria &Ernie..

  10. Your welcome, Mr. Weintraub. If you want to allow others to publicly maligh you, feel free to do so.

Ernie has been posting about me for months trying to create a narrative that I am mentally ill and unstable. He did that knowing he could not possibly substantiate his claims. I posted facts about Ernie Newton which I substantiated.

No one was forced to participate in the test. He could have declined.

The matter is now resolved with factual results to prove neither of us is on drugs or psychiatric meds.
