Weicker: McMahon-Murphy Campaign Worst Ever

Six weeks from today you have choices to make for president and several combined federal and state offices. Have you already made them? Which candidates impress? Which don’t?

Mitt Romney’s breaking out with zits courtesy of his disconnect with a majority of the American electorate. He’ll need to be on the top of his game in upcoming debates with Barack to turn his presidential campaign around. Closer to home, whom are you supporting for U.S. Senate between Republican Linda McMahon and Democrat Chris Murphy? Lowell Weicker, who occupied the seat for 18 years before he was knocked off by Joe Lieberman in 1988 only to become governor of Connecticut two years later, says the McMahon-Murphy campaign is “the worst ever seen.” Here’s what he told the CT Mirror.

“To sit there and listen to nothing but garbage, I just think it’s horrendous. The question I ask everybody just to make sure I’m not living on another planet: Who has seen one ad that states what the candidate is for? Either one of them?”

  1. Chris Murphy has my vote. If Obama wins the state by 21% I find it rather hard for Linda to win. Still can’t believe it is almost 4 years since I went to Black Rock school about 5:50am and waited in line for 30 minutes and cast the 89th vote at that school, a day I will never forget and the only time I have seen the lines out the door to Brewster Street. Obama won that school 1,567 to 702. Hopefully we can see that huge margin of victory at my neighborhood polling site this year. OBAMA 2012!!!

  2. Weicker is a singularly arrogant politician who brought the income tax to Connecticut, bullied lessers in the state government and kept a casino out of Bridgeport. Now in his old age he is pontificating about how to run a government.
    Just go away!!!

    1. A casino and no income tax. This is the something for nothing mentality. A casino doesn’t create money … it redistributes it and would have done nothing for Bpt. As for the income tax, the state was broke and we needed a more reliable source of revenue besides borrowing. Sorry if you have to pay for the roads you use.

  3. Bob,
I feel the same way about Weicker as you. He lied to my face in October 1989 when he said he would never consider a state income tax while he was Governor. He is an arrogant son of a bitch.

I wonder what Mojo and Mackey will think of you and me criticizing a white politician.

    1. And you think Linda isn’t arrogant. We needed the income tax. People should stop moaning about it. If I had a dollar for every person who wanted budget cuts instead of an income tax and then started complaining because there were cuts to programs they benefited from I would be able to pay the entire state budget!

    2. *** Your criticism of Weicker is more civil and far and few between compared to that of Newton! Side stepping does not make the picture you’ve finger painted a Rembrandt by any means. ***

  4. McMahon has run the sleaziest campaign I have ever seen. She says she won’t cave in to special interests. That is because she and her husband ARE special interests. They owed small businesses in this state hundreds of thousands of dollars for over 35 years and are only paying them because of the election. If she hadn’t been embarrassed by the revelation she never paid them while running for office.

  5. *** Let’s face it, with overpaid state employees and benefits, overall excessive state spending with less state revenue coming in and misuse of federal funds, etc. it’s a wonder state taxes are not higher than they are! Theres a lot more slices in the state money pie than ever before so if drastic cuts of 50% is not feasible then it will be higher taxes! *** OR PRINT MORE MONOPOLY MONEY ***
