Bridgeport Officials are advising residents and visitors of a heavy traffic flow that is expected in the City’s Downtown and South End for the “Sound on Sound” music festival which will be held at Seaside Park this weekend. Residents who live near Seaside Park and the festival’s access points are encouraged to plan accordingly. The City asks our community to be patient and understanding that these traffic delays may occur for this historic event.
The music festival takes place on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25; however, residents should be aware that the following streets will be closed or have detours through Monday, September 26 to allow for disassembly of the festival:
— Broad Street South of South Frontage Road
— Main Street South of Railroad Avenue
— Lafayette Street South of South Frontage Road
— Atlantic Street and Park Avenue
— Myrtle Avenue South of South Frontage Road
— Railroad Avenue at Main Street
— Railroad Avenue at Broad Street
— Railroad Avenue at Lafayette Street
— Railroad Avenue at Myrtle Avenue
— Rennell Street at Atlantic Avenue
— Walnut Street at Atlantic Street
— Iranistan Avenue at South Avenue
— Gregory Street at Iranistan Avenue
— Gregory Street at Park Avenue
— Ridge Avenue at Iranistan Avenue
— Atlantic Street at Iranistan Avenue
— Barnum Dyke at Atlantic StreetFestival visitors who intend to travel in the Downtown area should plan extra time for parking and transport. To avoid congested areas of traffic, visitors are encouraged to arrive early, carpool, ride the Metro-North Railroad New Haven line, the Port Jefferson Ferry, or utilize mobile methods of transit to the festival.
