The vote came after board attorney Floyd Dugas warned in a special meeting last week that the decision to conduct the search during publicly advertised board meetings could raise privacy concerns for potential candidates.

Dugas said that state law requires the school board to publicly disclose resumes they review and the names of candidates they speak with during executive sessions, which he suggested could discourage qualified administrators from applying for the role.
