Shays Has Raised $1.4 Million In Primary Battle Against McMahon

Bridgeport resident Chris Shays has raised roughly $1.4 million in his underdog quest to defeat GOP-endorsed Linda McMahon in an Aug. 14 Republican primary for U.S. Senate, according to finance numbers provided by his campaign. Shays, the ex congressman, has a lot of ground to make up among Republican primary voters, according to the latest Q poll. Interesting, having raised so far $1.4 million for a primary run, that Shays says he has no money for television. McMahon, who is well financed, will open a Bridgeport field office on Fairfield Avenue in Black Rock Saturday evening. From the Shays campaign:

Christopher Shays raised more money during the 2012 second quarter than any other quarter this election cycle.

A total of 1,262 donors contributed:

Pre-Convention: $166,407

Post Convention: $364,404

Total raised for the quarter: $530,811
