Sharpton To Visit Moales’ Church

Moales, Sharpton

Never a dull moment when Rev. Al Sharpton visits Bridgeport to engage voters. On Wednesday 7 p.m. he’s expected to appear for a voter registration drive at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 729 Union Avenue, where State Senate candidate Ken Moales serves as pastor, according to information posted on Facebook that includes Moales’ campaign contact listings at the bottom.

Kirk Wesley, campaign manager for Moales, informs “this is a black history month event that was planned weeks in advance of the election, however it doesn’t hurt one of the fundamental principles of our campaign which is to engage and activate new voters in Bridgeport.”

  1. What an excellent opportunity for the Gomes campaign to hold a rally outside Moales’ church with registration cards. This also proves a point, religious figures have no place in politics.

  2. It should read: “It doesn’t help that one of the fundamental principles of our campaign which is to Dis-engage and De-activate all voters of our city!”

    1. Maria, I love your attention to detail. I’ll bet Sharpton will not be there and it is a publicity/ propaganda stunt. Why a drive for a special election with a celebrity, no less? Gomes’ people need to scope it out. Is politics being preached from the pulpit? Do Gomes’ people need to hand out palm cards for rides to the polls? Will there even be a turnout on a cold snowy midweek event? Wednesday is TV night, Empire, Blackish; get real. Empire is a huge hit and so is Blackish, I think they’d trump Moales and Sharpton. Seriously!!!

      1. (Sorry Grin, I just couldn’t wait for you to take this straight line.)

Yes Bond Girl, Kirk does seem to suffer from “premature notification,” but I do hear they have little blue pills for that now!

  3. Just what we need, another low-life professional black person in Bridgeport. Sharpton is a money-grubbing publicity seeker who fans the flames of hatred. Hey, I got two things for you. Pay your freaking taxes and kiss my white Irish ass.

  4. There is no doubt in my mind Mayor Finch could care less if DeJesus wins at this point. He will do everything to pretend he is with DeJesus because of the backlash he will experience in the Spanish community if he betrays them, but Finch is frightened of Ganim’s potential run and needs the exorbitant amount of money charter school supporters and funders can provide him.

I doubt DeJesus and his supporters see it, but I am confident I am right. Moales is Mayor Finch’s guy and DeJesus has been discarded.

    1. You are absolutely right, Maria. Moales will do whatever Finch and Wood tell him to do–look at his contributors and compare to DeJesus–all of Finch’s peeps are with Moales. Not only will Moales do whatever he has to do to stay in favor, Finch with no fingerprints squishes Ayala whose power makes Finch very, very nervous. So long, Ricky!
And of course say hello to big Al! Big Al who came to fame on a huge lie that devastated countless reputations and lives. Maybe he’ll run by Charlie Stallworth’s church and apologize.
Or maybe he’ll bring Tawana Brawley with him so they can register double the voters. He’s a liar and a shakedown artist and that is why he is here–Moales is his kindred spirit.

  5. Jeepers–totally forgot Finch had lauded Sharpton for all his work in sustainability and hoped there will be more of him in D.C. It’s a love fest! Two liars come together, bond and all the world is right. How special for Bridgeport!

  6. Rev. Al Sharpton visits Bridgeport to engage voters is a real good thing, getting new voters is always good. But consider how important it will be for Rev. Al Sharpton to be made well aware of the action of Mayor Bill Finch to take the voting rights away from those who will show up at the voter registration drive at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 729 Union Avenue and of all voters in Bridgeport, and for him to read what Moales’ actions have been. Let’s see how Bill Finch will look after Rev. Al is asked about the action of Finch to take voters’ rights away.

  7. Sharpton is here because someone is paying him to be here. When has this racist given a shit about anything except money?
Here is how it works for Sharpton. An incident happens, Sharpton checks it out. Can I make money? Can I get a lot of publicity? If the answer is yes Sharpton will make an appearance, if it’s no you could not get Sharpton to show up no matter what.
This seems like the last straw to have this racist shithead show up in Bridgeport. It’s time for the black community to tell charlatans like Moales and others to take a walk. Is the black community going to continue to be lied to, taken advantage of and look like uneducated robots?

    1. Skeptics have been waiting for concrete proof Bass Pro Shops is happening. The concrete has started. As trucks have begun to pour concrete footings for construction of Bass Pro on the Steelpointe Harbor redevelopment area, the mega outdoor retailer’s founder and chief executive Johnny Morris will be in Bridgeport December 11 as the featured speaker at the annual dinner of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council at the Downtown Holiday Inn.

  8. Kenneth Moales Jr. receives substantial sums of money each year in state grants for his daycares. Can someone please tell me how he can serve in the legislature while receiving state funds for his daycares? Isn’t this an inherent conflict of interest? How can he make decision on how to spend our tax dollars when he owes the state over $20,000 in taxes?

  9. Be that as it may, the Rev. Al, along with Jesse Jackson, came to Bridgeport’s Mt. Aery Church to support Ned Lamont’s campaign against Lieberman in 2006. They were heartfelt, off the cuff, in the moment and hysterically funny.

  10. Let me bring up a few points that have been overlooked. Any time we get can get new voters to sign up is a good thing.

Let’s look at the records of Ed Gomes and Rev. Moales. Gomes has a lifetime record of working for workers rights, higher pay and for union rights. Those are the same issues Al Sharpton has fought for. Now let’s look at Rev. Moales’ record on workers and union rights; well, there is none. Rev. Moales was the campaign treasurer for Mayor Bill Finch and Finch is the one who took the voting rights away from the voters in Bridgeport for them to vote for who they wanted to serve on the Bridgeport Board Of Education. Did Rev. Moales step up and challenge Mayor Finch’s decision to take the voting rights away from the voters? Answer, NO. Ed Gomes was a part of the group that fought Mayor Finch’s decision. Al Sharpton has a lifetime record of fighting for voters rights. Mayor Finch and Rev. Moales have nothing in common with Al Sharpton positions on union rights and voting rights. It’s not evening contest, Ed Gomes is in a class by himself in working and supporting the rights of the people.

  11. Tawana Brawley, Steven Pagones, multimillion $ IRS debt, race baiting. All should be on Sharpton’s résumé. It’s extremely sad that African Americans put their faith in someone who has devoted his life to such criminal behavior.

  12. I’m pretty sure today, 2/10, is the deadline for registering new voters. If Sharpton is here under the guise of voter registration, I wonder if he and Moales realize anyone registered on Wednesday can’t vote until the next primary or election that will take place after this deadline.

    1. Good point, Lisa!

“Eligible voters have until Tuesday, February 10 to register to vote by mail or online for the special elections. The deadline for registering in person at registrars’ offices is Monday February 23.

“Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.”

But knowing Bridgeport city government, Moales will somehow back-date and get away with it.
