City Council members Ernie Newton and Maria Pereira have had quite the history, including challenging each other to urine tests on OIB years ago. Once again Pereira is at the center of attention for harvesting enough absentee ballots to squeak out another victory after losing the walk-in vote along with her running partner Keyla Medina.
How long will this partnership last? Pereira has alienated every council partner in the Upper East Side 138th District.
Facing dozens of state charges for alleged election fraud, including illegally touching ballots in the 2023 Dem primary has not deterred the self-styled piranha of city politics from chewing on absentees for political survival.

Isn’t it interesting that Gen Now and all of the Gomes supporters are silent when their preferred candidates lost badly on the machines, but still won the primary because of ABs. All you hear now is CRICKETS!
Miss Pereira thinks that this whole AB thing is a joke. Keep poking the bear and find out. Maria can say what she wants to the state and the feds, but she does the opposite when she’s stealing those ABs.
And by the way, Maria was running around talking about how popular she is in her district. Well look at those returns. It looks like she’s not the Queen of the 138th like she claims!

I guarantee you that before the cock crows three times, Maria and Keyla won’t be partners any more. And I guarantee that the state and feds are looking into every one of those ABs that Maria P submitted in this election.

Gomes’s people said he Won at the POLLS but lost because of the ABS Maria being Charged with ABs fraud as many other’s likewise. No one has opened their mouths like you. The Courts will have the final say on who was right and who was wrong.It goes to show you some people believe they are above the law. What makes Maria different than the others as far as AB fraud though??.. cause you two don’t get a long?
There’s a difference — and the courts will agree — between overzealous solicitation and retrieval of absentee ballot votes (Maria) and the outright illegal collection and delivery of the ballots/votes, as well as actual “stealing” of the votes (Ganim workers).
When the testimony is given in court, the walls of the current DTC are going to come tumbling down — it’s just too obvious how blatant and extensive (criminal) the absentee ballot operation was for the 2019 and 2023-2024 mayoral elections. The Governor will not allow the taint to touch him and he will make sure that there is a rendering of justice for the Bridgeport fiasco according to the letter of the law…
The DTC just been conducting voting operations by Banana Republic standards for too long and the rest of the state has to save face, correct the situation, and render justice in order to look politically reputable to the rest of the country…
Great points Jeff,funny how Lamont & other Dem leaders turned a blind eye to the AB fraud for years fearing angering Mario who helped bring in votes down in this part of the state. Once Wanda’s tape was leaked,they suddenly became “appalled”.
