Mayor’s Thanksgiving Activities

During the month of November, Mayor Bill Finch hosted and participated in several Thanksgiving celebrations and donation drives, including the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s ThanksGiving Project.

“Throughout the year, there are many organizations and individuals who support those in need, and we are thankful for their service. The winter months and the holidays bring even more people together to ensure that families have a Thanksgiving meal or a warm coat to wear,” said Mayor Finch. “I’m thankful to be Mayor of a city full of residents and organizations who understand the importance of giving back, to help those who need it most.”

Mayor Finch’s Thanksgiving activities have included:

Mayor Finch hosted a coat drive from November for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s ThanksGiving Project. Members of his staff volunteered to help sort coats at the Rescue Mission’s donation center. Mayor Finch visited the ThanksGiving Project on Nov. 22, thanking the Bridgeport Rescue Mission staff and volunteers for all of their hard work.

On Monday, Nov. 25, Mayor Finch hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at Marina Village with City Council members Denese Taylor-Moye and Jack Banta.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Mayor Finch visited the American Medical Response, Bridgeport Police Department, and Bridgeport Fire Department turkey donation giveaway at Vazzy’s Brick Oven Restaurant.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Mayor Finch helped serve a Thanksgiving lunch at The Workplace Inc. to the organization’s clients.

Also on Tuesday, Nov. 26, Mayor Finch helped distribute turkeys with City Council members at Dunbar School.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, Mayor Finch helped City Council member Lydia Martinez distribute turkeys in the East Side.
