From Mayor Finch:

Mayor Bill Finch unveiled the new Pleasure Beach Fishing Pier located at the end of Central Avenue on Saturday, December 3, 2011 in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “100 Days to Success” program, a series of land use training workshops that kicked off in June 2011.

With the use of federal funds secured by Congressman Jim Himes, and City capital/bond funds, the City refurbished the remains of the Pleasure Beach Bridge and converted it into a fishing pier, bringing waterfront access to the residents of the East End and the general public. The fishing pier includes benches, tables and lighting.

Saturday’s “100 Days to Success” program marks the culmination of the workshop and will celebrate the completion of tangible projects like the fishing pier, improvements at James Brown Park, and the area of land that will be called Knowlton Park.
