Judge Clark Rejects Request To Sequester Gomes Absentees

Superior Court Judge William Clark has rejected a request by Town Clerk Charlie Stallworth to delay counting absentee ballots from applications distributed by mayoral candidate John Gomes supporter Denise Solano to 22 Gomes backers “until determination of their validity.”  Solano provided hundreds of applications to Gomes supporters for circulation who were not registered to distribute five or more applications as required by election monitors.

Gomes attorney Bill Bloss objected to the motion see here. He called it a “hyper-technical issue that cannot lead to an invalid ballot, period.”

  1. Don’t make much of this. The Secretary of State filed a SEEC complaint. This requires the Registrar and Town Clerk to secure all documents pertaining to the complaint.
