Smart move having a Hearst Media reporter shadowing the rollout of your campaign for governor. Not so handy when your driver does 100 MPH, or close to it. Reporter Neil Vigdor was inside the wheels and captures the moment. Gee Joe, if you wanted rollout attention, you sure got it. Go get ‘em Viggy! State police said the vehicle was clocked by laser at 87 miles per hour and the trooper used his discretion to issue a verbal warning.

Joe Ganim got out the starting blocks of his gubernatorial odyssey Wednesday fast–too fast.

The SUV the Bridgeport mayor was riding in between campaign stops in Hartford and Waterbury was pulled over for speeding by State Police on Interstate 84 in Southington.

The rented Ford Expedition with Pennsylvania plates was being driven by Ramon Garcia. It was traveling 100 miles per hour.

“A little bit fast,” the state trooper said to Ganim through the passenger side.

    This is a joke guess the laws don’t apply to Ganim. Here is what should happen:
    1. Ticket should be issued for doing 100mph
    2. Trooper who did not write the ticket should be given a couple of days off.
    2 Ganims driver should be sent back to his regular job after getting unpaid time off.
    This is just another part showing Ganim and his people think they are above the law. I guess they are

    100 mph??..Garcia could have killed someone..Joe still doesn’t get it,the idiot should have insisted on taking the ticket,but no,Joe and his cronies probably laughed and congratulated themselves on “getting out of the ticket”.Let’s face it,if they took the ticket,somehow the $100 would have came from the Bpt taxpayers wallets anyway..

    I feel sorry for the State police officer who was just extending a professional courtesy to a Brother officer and the mayor of a city. What this officer didn’t know nor was aware of is that his professional courtesy was being recorded or documented, but Ganim and Garcia did and they still let this officer put his career or his family’s livelihood on the line.

    That’s about as low as two people can get when you let your actions hurt someone who was just trying to throw you a solid. Mayor Ganim, that’s the kinda shit that gives people pause for concern with your gubernatorial ambitions, your mayoral abilities and you as a man. You should have insisted that the State police officer ticket your driver because you knew that you were being shadowed and that this would call into question this officers judgement and have unintended consequences for him. Shame on you.

      I agree Donald. I think it shows a perfect example of the JG arrogance, and frankly, the trooper needed to give his brother at the very least a written warning. With all the negative media coverage of police appearing to be getting away with murder, examples like this only support the narrative, in my opinion. There’s a fine line between a professional courtesy and protecting our own, at 100 MPH, that line was crossed at 70.

        Jennifer my Jennifer, police killing people has absolutely nothing to do with extending a professional courtesy to another officer speeding. Talking about changing the narrative.

        My sister who was a cop once told me that a professional courtesy is extended to police and firefighters as a recognition of the fact that like them they are putting their lives on the line every day they go to work. But by the same token they have extended that to John Q public as well. Give the police a break and save your or ire for Joe Ganim and his arrogance.

          Hey, I’m all for professional courtesy, I’ve benefited from it myself due to one of my last names being the same (not related to) the commissioner of Motor Vehicles. I was not running for office, I was not going almost double the speed limit, and I didn’t have a reporter in the car with me. I see your point, and overall agree with you.

      Don, I apologize for repeating myself again but it will show a pattern of behavior of Joe Ganim. Below is a post that I wrote Tuesday.

      “I must go back two years ago to the apology from Mayor Ganim speaking at the 2015 Emancipation event at East End Baptist Tabernacle Church, this event jump started Joe Ganim’s comeback. At no time did Joe Ganim acknowledge the event and why all of these black pastors were there for Emancipation Day program held on New Years Day and the reason for this celebration. Ganim had no knowledge or understanding “Watch Night Service” held every New Year Eve as the New Year comes in.”

      “Joe Ganim acted as if the entire event was all about Little Joe. Just like those pastors who were there, I like them believe in giving someone a second chance especially when the person acknowledges their wrong doing and atone for their action. Joe Ganim doesn’t do that in the video and again, it’s all about Joe.”

      Don, Joe Ganim doesn’t have any moral empathy as you pointed out concerning the State Trooper.Ganim. Joe Ganim has never shown any atonement. Again, it’s always about little Joe Ganim.

Trump’s big campaign slogan was “Make America great again!” After a year of Donald Trump; Jarvanka; KellyAnne Conway; Sean Spicer hiding in the bushes; offensive statements on the Holocaust and the Civil War; referring to neo Nazis, Ku Klux Klansmen and the alt-right as “very fine people”; a tax cut that favors the wealthy and huge corporations at the expense of working- and middle-class Americans; and proposing to open the nation’s most environmentally sensitive offshore areas to oil and gas exploration it’s hard to see how Donald Trump is “making America great again.” If you asked 64% of the American people if they are better off now than when Barack Obama was POTUS the answer will be “NO!”

    I agree with your recognition of Obama’s class.
    But the quote you included to show the profound disparity was not necessary to make the case.
    Can you remember back to the 3d or 4th grade when a teacher would ask the class weekly for quotes from famous Americans and we all got a grounding from Emerson, Lincoln, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Nathan Hale, Patrick Henry, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, etc.?
    In the final summation, do we really care what such narcissistic, fundamentally distracted, with sole concern for self-advancement and profoundly ignorant of what an American President (rather than a TV celebrity) should look and sound like, says about almost anything? Hopefully his words will become buried after being thoroughly vetted by Mueller and his team. And sooner is better in this case than later, as it appears that this President did not have what it takes to “make America great again”. And if I am right perhaps we should all be talking about what might be the things that would make Bridgeport, CT, and America better, greater, positive and growing. Those ideas, coming from the ambitions of many will shape our future with more potency than what has paraded too often and for too many hours each day in recent time. What are the lessons that we Americans celebrate from history? How are they important today? Time will tell.

      Barack Obama had universal class. Donald Trump is a pig, a self-entitled rich white guy that cares bout his wealth and his privilege and doesn’t care about anyone or anything else. His only legislative accomplishment is a tax bill that benefits other rich people at the expense of the middle class. He had the unmitigated gall to refer to white nationalists, neo Nazis, skinheads and Ku Klux Klansmen as “very nice people.” He bragged about “grabbing ‘em by the pussy” (not surprising he would endorse Roy Moore, a chicken hawk, for the U.S. Senate). His West Wing subordinates have to treat his like a child because he wants instant gratification.
      Unlike his predecessors Donald J. Trump is completely ignorant of the laws and Constitution of the United States of America. He thought the Attorney General served his personal interests. The Attorney General, the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the country, serves the interests of the people, not the personal interests of the POTUS. But then, you’re such a know-it-all you already knew that.

      So tell us Andy, how is this xenophobic bigot going to make America great.

        Well lets look at the stock market up over 25,000 shares. Now a dumb ass like you will sayy how does that help the city. Well all of the funds that the city was invested in (pensions) will surely profit from the historic rise in the market.
        The job market is booming.
        Health insurance : you can now buy health insurance across state l;ines like car insurance and competition should lower rates
        The military got their first raise in 8 years.

          The jobs were created under Obama’s administration. The stock market spike is the result of a tax bill handed to Trump by Congress. His only involvement was signing the bill into law. (He couldn’t be bothered to read the fucking thing.) Universal health care is the result of the Affordable Care Act, signed into law by Barack Obama.

    The American corporate world lobbied hard while the GOP was behind closed doors hammering out a tax bill that would benefit the 10% over 90%. Trump thinks this is terrific, really good for the economy, making rich people richer. How does that tax benefit you, Andy?
