House Fire In Black Rock

From Steve Krauchick, Doing It Local:

Just after 3:30 hursday morning firefighter received numerous calls for a fire at 206 Scofield Avenue. When I arrived about six minutes after hearing the call the 2nd floor and attic were fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were already on scene and had begun an impressive interior attack that kept the fire confined to the second floor.

I met with the first floor occupants, 3 males who made it out safely. They told me 3 other males, no children lived on the second floor. They were uncertain if they made it out. I kept checking with EMS and I’m happy to report they were not busy. Within twenty minutes the firefighters had the inferno under control. After listening to Mayor Finch and Fire Chief Rooney at the firefighter promotions tonight I looked at each duty the firefighters did and realized just how specific and detailed their work is. It is easy to take for granted what they do because they do it without thinking and flawlessly. The fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. When I left around 4am I was happy to see EMS was not busy and there appeared to be no injuries.
