Health Director Appointment And Assistance For Incarcerated On City Council Agenda

The appointment of Lisa Morrissey as director of health and approval of a resolution to create a “SAFER Supervision Committee” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic are among items on the City Council agenda Monday night at 7.

Nine council members back the resolution calling for suspension of incarceration for technical violations, release of elderly and “vulnerable people” onto supervision, suspending probation office visits and payment of fines, as well as free medical visits and treatment, hand sanitizers, soap and protective gear.

    I can approximate an answer for you because I went to page 350 of the Health Admin Department data in the 2021 FY Mayor proposed budget, It shows Director of Public Health* with a requested and proposed number of $42,919 but when you follow the asterisk * “Additional $93,090 of the Director of Public Health salary paid out of grant account.
    Is that $136,000 what will appear in a Director’s contract? Any other enhancements specific to the position and new personnel that may be funded in Fringe Benefits? Or from grants? By the way, what is the contribution from the grants budget to employee compensation and fringes across the entire City? Where is such a number found in material offered to the City Council? Time will tell.
