  1. And just what does being the “green power plant capital” of the world mean for the taxpayers/residents of Bridgeport? How much does it add to the grand list? Are there other types of more desirable development, with living wage jobs, all these fuel cell and solar panel parks are crowding out? (We couldn’t think of higher use for 50 acres of Seaside Park than a solar-panel park?!) Who is really benefiting from this green charade?

And Bridgeport is supposed to be “green” with 50 acres of waterfront occupied by huge fossil-fuel power plants, smokestacks, and fuel-storage tanks?! No higher, job-intensive use for that property?!

Now, if were manufacturing green alternative energy equipment in Bridgeport and employing it here to replace all our fossil-fuel operations to serve BRIDGEPORT, freeing up our waterfront and other land in the process (for cleaner, higher, job-intensive uses), then I would be impressed with our “green” progress. (And I would actually consider it progress.)

But as things now stand, having Paul Timpanelli and the BRBC disingenuously touting our green “progress,” as they lead our mayor on a green tour of his city, sends up big red flags and disturbs this life-long Bridgeport resident.

Don’t drink the BRBC kool aid, Joe. Let’s come up with a real plan for a Bridgeport economy renaissance, with lots of good jobs and high-value, environmentally friendly tax base. With Bridgeport’s environment fouled and devalued by so much power-generation/transmission infrastructure that benefits mostly a region that demeans and harbors nothing but resentment for Bridgeport and its people, trying to cast Bridgeport and its emaciated, anemic economy as “growing” and “green” is nothing but a cruel BRBC deception.
