Foster Smacks ‘The Boys’ Finch, Ganim On Crime Gimmicks, Urges Feds To Step Up

News release from Democratic mayoral candidate Mary-Jane Foster:

Mary-Jane Foster, Democratic candidate for mayor–outraged at this administration’s lack of integrity and obstruction of information regarding criminal activity in Bridgeport and the absurd, empty promises made in opening unauthorized police substations–is calling for an end to the games being played at the expense of Bridgeport residents.

Today’s news that the Finch administration is deliberately withholding data on criminal activity from Bridgeport residents is just one more example of the lack of integrity and transparency in his administration. Mayor Finch’s efforts to obstruct the flow of information and former Mayor Ganim’s race to open unauthorized police substations are nothing more than self-serving gimmicks that fail to address the real needs of our city. “These actions demean and show a total lack of regard for the lives lost in this violence and the grief experienced by families, friends and the community,” Foster charged.

“It is time for the boys to stop playing games with crime. Bridgeport residents need honest leadership to address the serious crime issues confronting our communities, its underlying causes, and to ensure public safety. To this end, I am calling on the mayor and chief of police to immediately come clean regarding crime in Bridgeport. I am also calling on the FBI to launch an immediate investigation into the suppression of crime statistics, and for the city to establish a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of the Trumbull Gardens community’s shootings and homicides,” Foster said.

“As mayor I will recruit and fully staff our police force. I commit to a comprehensive jobs program that will pay a decent wage for young people and people needing a second chance and to establishing an e-notification on criminal activity to keep residents informed and engaged,” she concluded.

    1. They were our guests and I certainly hope they will return real soon. Bob, did you just pull 99 percent out of the sky? You are a buzz kill and there were hundreds of Bridgeporters there.

    1. If you listen carefully, you can almost hear the Foster team chanting win Joe win, win Joe win. Of course Ganim appreciates the extremely low-key Foster campaign but will not even thank her or utter her name. Will there be fire? The next four weeks are going to fly by. Get busy!!!

      1. What a lovely thing for a person who respects Mary-Jane Foster to say. A total love tap. Completely fantasy of course, but a love tap nonetheless.

In your delusion, does Finch fly in on a unicorn to save the City from itself?

  1. So how does an understaffed police force contribute to a drop in crime? People cannot be bothered reporting it’s because it takes days to get a cop to respond.

    1. And Joe Ganim will be on channel 12 news addressing anything to get press. And Mary-Jane? What’s on Monday’s agenda? We know Ganim will be talking about the tax abatement on the very property he was accused of taking bribes from developers. Forget about the neighborhood and the people who might benefit. I do hope when Ganim makes the front page they address that minor detail. Maybe they will ask Foster to comment on that.

      1. Bad-mouth Joe Ganim all you want, Stevie. He’s running a high-profile campaign with integrity. Your boy Finch (and the circle of fools who make decisions for him) are not even about style over substance. Finch showed up to a public safety forum in Black Rock, an hour into the proceedings. Did he say much of anything about the criminality affecting the neighborhood? No, he just went into his stump speech about how fabulous Steal Point is going to be for Bridgeport. At one point a woman shouted “We’re here for Black Rock!”

  2. This is really good, a strong and aggressive statement about the new direction Bridgeport will go when Mary-Jane Foster is elected Mayor this November, someone the voters of Bridgeport can be proud of.

  3. MJF should not refer to Joe and Finch as “boys.” It is sexist, condescending and demeaning. I wonder how she would feel if they referred to her as “girl.”

      1. Frank the Cabana Boy, well your handle refers to yourself as “boy,” therefore clearly you do not find the reference demeaning. However I am always offended when adults are referred to as “girls” or “boys.”

  4. Maria–when grown men act like children, can’t they be characterized as “boys” without your outrageous charge of “sexism?” Please cite your dictionary definition to support your position.
