Foster Pushes Ballot Access Issue, Claims Tea Party Tactics By ‘Finch Cronies’

From Democratic mayoral candidate Mary-Jane Foster:

Finch Cronies Using Tea Party Tactics to Prevent Foster’s Name From Being on the Ballot

One more outside legal consultant doing the mayor political favors

On Friday, Mayor Finch’s outside legal counsel on the Board of Education civil case, Atty. John Bohannon, falsely stated that a Superior Court judge agreed with his assertion that no candidates for the Bridgeport Board of Education will be on the ballot on September 13th. In fact, there were no court orders that were stipulated as a result of Friday’s conference with attorneys on this matter. Bohannon’s actions were intended to create a situation that would intimidate the Bridgeport Democratic Registrar of Voters from certifying Mary-Jane Foster’s name for the September 13th primary ballot. These tactics are reminiscent of the Tea Party’s tactics to deny Democrats ballot access across the country, like Olympic gold medal winner Carl Lewis’s quest to become a state senator in New Jersey.

Mayor Finch is intimidating Bridgeport’s Democratic Registrar of Voters and using the legal debate surrounding the Board of Education slate to prevent Mary-Jane Foster’s name from appearing on the primary ballot. Democratic candidate for mayor of Bridgeport Mary-Jane Foster is fighting back by shining a light on the mayor’s efforts to prevent the election.

“Mayor Finch must be petrified by my candidacy to go to such outrageous lengths to prevent my name from appearing on the ballot,” explained Foster. “If he’s so proud of his record, why is he afraid to face me and give the voters a choice? Perhaps it’s because the City is $1.4 billion in debt, the Board of Ed has a $22.5 million hole in its budget, crime is on the rise, and the mayor knows he made campaign promises he couldn’t keep, like giving taxpayers a $600 property tax refund.”

According to documents obtained through a Foster FOI request, Mayor Finch hired Bohannon three days after taking office, giving him a no-bid contract for $5,500 per month. As a result, taxpayers have paid Bohannon $247,500 since 2007 for work that could have been done by the City Attorney’s office.

“Why does Mayor Finch have outside counsel representing him on this matter, when the City Attorney is perfectly capable of handling the work? Because someone who is earning a quarter of a million dollars will do the mayor’s bidding day and night to keep that contract securely in place for another four years,” stated Jason Bartlett, Foster’s campaign manager.

According to webzine www.OnlyinBridgeport.com, Democratic Registrar of Voters Sandi Ayala, despite repeated questioning on Friday afternoon, refused to answer why she would not certify that Foster had submitted the required signatures for her name to be on the September 13 primary ballot. Ayala is quoted as saying, “I can’t tell you anything on the advice of legal counsel.”

“The Board of Education case has been continued to Monday, meaning no final decisions have been made. Bohannon’s assertion is a shocking distortion of the truth designed to create chaos and prevent Mary-Jane from being on the ballot,” Bartlett continued. “One thing has nothing to do with the other. Mayor Finch has a right to his opinion but not his own facts. He should not be misrepresenting the court’s actions to the public.

The clock is ticking–it’s been 10 days since she handed in over 3,500 signatures.

  1. This is not surprising. I was there in the registrar’s office when MJF handed the petitions to Santa Ayala. There were many other witnesses. This is just bootstrapping. Bill Finch has already proven himself to be a liar. His involvement with William Beccaro’s “People for Excelence in Government” PAC shows him to be a crook as well. It is disappointing but not surprising Mr. Finch and Mario Testa would stoop this low to maintain their hold on City Hall.

  2. It’s interesting statements from Mary-Jane get posted on this very impartial, fair and balanced “WEBZINE” the same time Mary-Jane’s campaign sends them out via email and Twitter. The synchronization is very impressive.

    1. It is called communication and organization. This must be the reason there appears to be more and more Foster signs around the city in just the past few days. Everyone everywhere in the city is talking about Mary-Jane Foster. BTW I just came from the new Bijou Theater downtown and ran into Phil Kuchma. I congratulated him. The Bijou is amazing and first class. When Mary-Jane Foster gets elected maybe more people will venture downtown to support these venues. I have never seen anyone from the Finch administration at any cultural event in Bridgeport and that is so sad. The other night before the Meet and Greet at Miss Thelma’s downtown the music at McLevy Green was amazing. Saw Mike Daley there from the Post. Always spot him at the Symphony at the Klein. Did not see Finch or any representation from City Hall–no surprise, but a lot of support for Mary-Jane Foster.

      1. Are you kidding, Steven? Bill Finch’s idea of “going ethnic” is a bag of Fritos and a couple of Tina’s microwave burritos. He wouldn’t know high culture if it crawled up his leg and bit him on the ass.

For a man who claims to be a Democrat Mr. Finch behaves an awful lot like a second-rate country-club Republican.

  3. Whoa Whoa Whoa here. More lies from Mary-Jane. Santa is a fair and balanced person. As far as Tea Party tactics are concerned Mary-Jane is the one practicing fear mongering. Crime is up? What a joke? When crime was on an uptick the Mayor started taking back the neighborhoods. One BY One. Again violent crime goes down in Bridgeport. Facts! Even the homicides are lowers than Hartford.

      1. Well, you’d better pack your bags and move to a quiet little town similar to Southport. If you want to live in an urban city anywhere, statistically there’s always going to be a higher crime rate. It’s the nature of the beast.

          1. So ignore me, you didn’t have to comment. Again, more unfounded assumptions and allegations are all you MJF fans can offer. “You must be this, you must be that, you must have a city job” and so on. Did it ever occur to you there really are people who think Finch is doing a good job?

            0
          1. Really? By whose standards? Rumor had it you wanted to run for Town Clerk, so how is it that you weren’t chosen by the Foster camp?

            0
          2. That was my fault for not approaching her. As most of all on here I too am aware of past mistakes (pointing them out can’t possibly benefit your candidate).

            0
    1. Fair and balanced? Or taking marching orders from Mario?

      How about incompetent and indecisive?

      Remember last fall?

Should it be taking this long to certify the petitions?

Is Santa really qualified for the job?

      0
    2. Not all crimes are reported–some prefer to handle it themselves. Count all the crimes committed in other towns by Bridgeport residents and you’ll get a much different report.

      0
      1. While you’re at it count how many crimes are committed here by outsiders and your report will also change. Feel free to include corporate crimes.

        0
  4. Everyone wants to bash Bill Finch. Let’s talk about Mary-Jane since we are finally allowed to have the floor. Remember Charlie Dowd? He was fired during a morning meeting with CEO Mary-Jane Foster and Jack McGregor, co-chair of the team’s board of directors. Dowd was a respected professional among baseball people. He knew what he was doing. Mary-Jane along with her husband shitcanned him and the game was over since then. Attendance went down the toilet faster than a turd covered with astroglide.

    0
    1. They fired Charlie Dowd and what? When you run a business and pump your own money into it you can hire and fire. Dowd was not an hourly associate and I am sure he was well compensated and whatever the reason. What the hell does that have to do with running for Mayor? Maybe if the Mayor and his fellow associates as well as the BRBC supported the venue it would have been a lot better attended. And BTW Mary your visuals border on the obscene. Your constant support of Santa Ayala is also annoying–she screwed Chris Caruso and now Mary-Jane Foster. If Foster skipped the primary and went into the general election she would take the city by a landslide. I believe in Bridgeport and that is why I am supporting Mary-Jane Foster. Btw not only is it embarrassing all of the signs around the city that tout Finch’s road repairs but take a left or right turn down any of those streets and your car is in for some bumpy riding!!! Oh yeah and speaking about signs, it is sad the bulk of Finch signs are located on foreclosed homes or homes that are for sale and vacant. When people see that they ask themselves–geez these people are supporting Finch and their home is for sale. Right. There may be only a few weeks left but the tide is turning into a tidal wave and the Democratic machine will have egg on their face. The North End will not have to worry about Testa looking for a zone change again so he can make a ton of money having another highrise dorm for Sacred Heart. That’s how it works in Bridgeport politics. No way. North End is Foster Territory–especially in the Testo’s restaurant area. They will not forget the attempted zone change approx. 6 months ago and if anyone believes he is not trying to feather his nest again–Forget about it!!!!!!!!! Steven Auerbach for Foster–cannot wait for the debates and the North End will remember the attempt at a zone change which would have made a dormitory on Madison Ave. a reality. I was there that night protesting it and so was Caruso and Hennessy as well as the Testo’s neighbors!!! People need to remember–snap out of it!

    2. You must be confusing a mix of past political events. Like when Obama fired Howard Dean as DNC Chair and everything went downhill since. If politics were like baseball, we would have fired Finch a looong time ago.

  5. Charlie Dowd, who had guided the team’s fortunes throughout their first nine seasons in which they became the winningest team in Atlantic League history including the franchise’s only Atlantic League championship in 1999. Then, midway through the 2006 season, Dowd had his baseball-operations duties stripped by Foster, and was dismissed shortly after the season ended.

Meanwhile, Dowd was replaced by Bill Larsen, who rode into Bridgeport with much fanfare, being heralded as “the new Bill Veeck” and, at times, compared to Bridgeport’s very own favorite son, P.T. Barnum. Rather than Veeck or Barnum, however, the Bluefish got their own version of Joseph Hazelwood, better known as the skipper of the ill-fated Exxon Valdez. Attendance, which once led the Atlantic League, plummeted to the very bottom under Larsen’s watch. Worse still, on the field, the team unraveled as badly as the team from Flushing Meadows. With six games remaining in the first half, the Bluefish were 13 games over .500–the best record in the Atlantic League–and needed to win just two of its remaining six games to clinch a postseason appearance.

    They won NONE of them.

Somehow, the Bluefish managed to finish in last place–behind the lowly Road Warriors, a vagabond franchise owned and operated by the Atlantic League that played all its games on the road. In late August, Foster had seen enough, and Larsen was dismissed amid allegations he had routinely verbally abused members of his staff, including using racial epithets against a member of the grounds crew.

Bridgeport can expect more of the same. Mayor Finch has Bridgeport on the verge of rising to the top. Mary-Jane will just blow the lead and finish … in last place!

    1. Yup–Finch should be careful about taking credit for Ganim and Fabrizi initiatives. If he does then Ganim and Fabrizi will only be remembered for their downfall. Which I do not want to mention again out of respect. They both paid a price but they did some good in this city. Finch will not be able to take credit for any of it simply because they were all under way before you got there.

      0
    2. Bill Finch has Bridgeport on the verge of bankruptcy, nothing else. The city is more than $1 billion in the hole, the BOE is fucked, Finch has been laundering money and insulting the parents of the city’s school children, and all Finch’s professional rah-rahs can do is talk about a man who used to work for the Bluefish.

      0
      1. No better summary of the deplorable Finch “EXPERIENCE.” All of you people out there, all four of you, who support this incompetent dilettante, ought to be truly ashamed. All you are doing is preserving a job none of you are capable of performing adequately.

You see, the good people of Bridgeport are tired of calamarian rule. We don’t want you or any of you people to have anything to do with the municipal management of OUR city. All you people have done over the past 40 years is drive us lower and lower. We, because of every one of you, are the laughing stock of the nation.

We want better. This time we are going to get it. If you think Tommy John is enough to deny MJF her destiny then you go for it.

But if I were you, I’d buy local and get down to Rainey Faye. I’m sure she has books on resume preparation. Try reading WHAT COLOR IS MY PARACHUTE. It is a great guide to conducting a job search.

        0
    3. And do you really understand Finch is the captain of the Titanic here? He has no clue, takes credit where others have done the work, delegates most of his authority to Adam Wood, Andy Nunn and Charlie Carroll (the Three Stooges). At least MJF has business acumen and knows how to make decisions. Charlie Dowd was getting too big for his britches and the Atlantic League is a step-child to the other minor leagues. It was a dog and pony show with few (if any) players cracking the Major League ceiling. Most were has-beens and never would be(s).
Why don’t we talk about the economy of Bridgeport?
An “A” rating is borderline for most credit agencies. To give Finch a thumbs-up for this is like enabling a criminal to do a lesser crime. This inept mayor has no clue as to improve the economic malaise of Bridgeport. Nor do his minions … they’re milking the system for all it’s worth and taking credit for things they don’t do.

      0
  6. So MJF fires her GM for abusing her staff and she is going to blow her lead? I guess even the Finch people are now acknowledging Foster is a Leader and WINNING.

You have to love all those Green Signs Finch has erected around town at the taxpayers’ expense. So much for Global Warming with all that Green Paint 🙂 Oh I know! He’s using the cleaning of the green from his PAC.

    0
  7. Grin–Mary-Jane has had a chronic case of making decisions that end up in smoke. She waited six months before she got rid of Larsen. I guess she tolerates abusive behavior. Every decision she has made has been questionable.

There would be NO Arena if it weren’t for Finch and his political guile to get things massaged through.

    0
    1. “There would be NO Arena if it weren’t for Finch and his political guile to get things massaged through.”

Could you please “splain” this to me? This was a state project and Bill was still serving on the City Council.

      0
  8. In Lennie speak … Ya gotta hand it to Finch. He rallied every one of his supporters, all three of them, and has them writing opposition statements on this blog. It sounds, though, like it’s one guy with three handles.

    0
    1. Funny you should say that, I came to the exact same conclusion that there are probably less than a dozen people posting on this blog using an assortment of names. Sort of like a box of mixed nuts. Their rhetoric & grammar is a dead giveaway, although the attempt is being made to lead people into believing they are more than one person. Hell, one of them appears to me that he/she answers his own comments. Now that’s some weird stuff. Lay off the Kool-Aid.

      0
    2. yahooy: I think Finch may have increased his following by a staggering 25%. I do believe there are FOUR supporters now. Jeez … get your facts straight. 🙂

      0
  9. Mary_Choen95, now I know you must be joking. This is the best you can do? For the sake of arguing let’s say everything you said about the Bluefish is true. Which one is worse, the running of the Bluefish or the lie Bill Finch told the residents of Bridgeport he would give them a $600 tax rebate?

    0
  10. Let me see if I can make some sense of Mary_Choen95’s logic. She supports Bill Finch, the incumbent. He is on the record telling more than a few lies, including that whopper about a $600 tax rebate.

There’s that matter concerning the dissolution of the Board of Education. That was a backroom deal, months in the making. It would appear the mayor’s primary objective was to remove three board members who did not go along with his policies. Is it any surprise they are members of the Working Families party? This was a sleazy deal from the get-go. When there was a public outcry from people not happy with One-Term Bill’s deliberate disenfranchisement he responded “democracy doesn’t work … in all cases” because so many of Bridgeport’s parents are illegal immigrants or convicted criminals.

And what about that political action committee? Looks like One-Term Bill and William Beccaro, Esquire, the treasurer of People for Excellence in Government PAC have been engaging in a criminal activity known as money laundering. Finch gave a long-winded and baffling statement about going out of his way to make it all appear “above board.” Adam “Pecker” Wood, Finch’s chief of staff and personal son-of-a-bitch, could only point out a restaurant closed. Neither of them denied taking money from Squire Beccaro.

And what does Mary_Choen95 have to say? She talks about a former Bluefish manager who was fired from the team several years ago. Big fucking deal.

    0
    1. I don’t give a shit about the Bluefish manager. You want to talk about incompetent managers? Let’s start with Andy Nunn, Tom Sherwood, Dawn Norton, Don Eversley for a START. Finch has appointed the WORST dept heads this city has ever seen. They are managing the city into the ground and Finch has no clue because all he cares about is his green initiative. PLEASE!!! Get real Mary 95.

  11. What a surprise, we went to a movie today at the newly renovated Bijou. The theater is absolutely stunning. Cabaret seating by candlelight on the sides and regular seating in the middle. Nice turn-out, great bar and beautifully appointed. I saw Phil Kuchma and had to congratulate him on a first-rate venue and how beautiful it was. Go Enjoy! You will be very impressed. Finally, an arts theater downtown. It is important to support projects like this. Not only has Phil Kuchma done an amazing job, but it is by far the nicest Art Theater I have been to from New York to Hartford. I UNDERSTAND THE MAYOR WAS THERE FOR A FUND RAISER THERE LAST WEEK. That will most likely be the last time this political group will be there to support this.
I Just wanted to share, please pass the word. Get on their E-mailing list. They have scheduled some amazing films. Sunday they are showing Bride Flight which I had seen months ago and was wonderful. Unfortunately, ONLY ONE SHOWING.

As everyone knows, I am supporting Mary-Jane Foster for MAYOR. I think she is terrific and will take Bridgeport to new heights. I have walked all over the city and the response is amazing!!!

    Regards,
    Steven L. Auerbach

    0
      1. Thank you–I stand corrected and apologize. However, the point I was trying to make was he and his followers will not be attending that venue. They never support any of Bridgeport’s attempts to enhance the culture. I know because I try to attend all of Bridgeport’s happenings.

        0
  12. And Finch’s business experience is what? Oh yeah that’s right, he has NONE–ZIP ZILCH NADA!!! Mary-Jane has business experience. It may be experience Finch’s supporters don’t agree with–after all, she didn’t keep CRONIES and SUPPORTERS in jobs they couldn’t do!!!
The Finch camp must be desperate to send these ankle-biters out to debate …

    0
    1. lisawhite, how dare you insult our mayor and his business experience, well first he, uuuh, okay maybe one of his supporters, Mary_Choen95, Godiva2011 or NORTH45 will tell us.

      0
      1. To Mary_Choen95, Godiva2011 and NORTH45. I’ll bet you each $1000 Finch crashes and burns in this upcoming primary. I trust Lennie to hold the money–I’ll put 10 $100 bills in separate envelopes. Put your money where your mouth is if you’re that confidant; or shut the fuck up.

        0
  13. And if for some stupid insane reason Foster’s petitions are not accepted–thus no primary on 9/13–I fully intend to write her in on the November ballot!!!

    0
  14. Lennie,
It’s my understanding Santa is represented by Paul and Ray Ganim in Waterbury court.
So is she suggesting THEY are telling her not to answer questions about certifying signatures?
Or is she getting confused by all of the legal counsel she is receiving including that of City Attorney Mark Anastasi when it comes to this matter?
Or could it be maybe Bill Beccaro is advising her in this matter?

    0
  15. This is a case of “you cannot unring the bell.”
Santa is being told by the Finch Admin not to certify. Santa will say she has received a legal opinion from the city there is a problem with the petitions and she cannot certify them. When asked for a copy of the opinion she will say she did not receive it in writing.
They are already working on Plan B. They will be in court once the howling gets loud enough saying the petitions are flawed (due to the incompetance of the registrar) and should be all thrown out.
No primary. Finch in a landslide.

    0
    1. Yeah, in a different time and a parallel universe. You will see a protest like you have never seen in the city of Bridgeport. The North End is still disgusted with the vain attempt of Mario Testa trying to change the zoning on Madison Avenue’s Testo’s restaurant to build another Sacred Heart University dorm and the Beardsley Park residence still in disbelief on how long it took Finch to get on the bandwagon to Derail the Jail by Nob Hill. I am sure they will remember before the Sept. Primary. At least Caruso was out there as well as protesting the zone change for the restaurant. Foster would have been out there also. Before it became an embarrassment to the city and its lack of respect to the neighborhoods and city residents.

      0
  16. Santa will resign in disgrace (who’s kidding whom; she wouldn’t know disgrace if it bit her on the ass.) She will get a job in the Probate Court, funded by city money, and Adam Wood will be named acting Registrar pulling down a second salary (due to lost income from PACs) since he is already telling Santa how to run her office anyway.

    0
  17. A special shout out to all of the Finch bloggers (Adam) who have recently joined the conversation. At least you have done all of the debate prep work for MJF.
MJF is not a successful business person because her businesses lost money. Think Lee Iacocca, Donald Trump, etc., etc.,etc.
At least they didn’t file for bankruptcy like GM, Ford and Chrysler.

    0
    1. I’m certainly not Adam, and I wasn’t coerced into posting my comments by anyone. More assumptions and false accusations, that’s all that goes on here, unless of course you are part of the MJF tag team. It just seems the MJF supporters act as if they own this blog and up until a couple of days ago, they did. No other comment is acceptable unless you are complimenting or stroking her. Now fess up–in an attempt to make her fan club look larger and more impressive, how many other names do you use when posting here?

      0
      1. Godiva2011, seeing there are so many MJF supporters and they act as if they own this blog and up until a couple of days ago, they did, why don’t you challenge their comments with facts? I’m sure the mayor’s team will provide you with their talking points.

But you know Godiva2011, if you would just provide us with the answer to one question that comes up all the time, why did Bill Finch lie to the residents of Bridgeport about giving them a $600 tax rebate and when will he say he is sorry he lied to us?

        0
      2. I use one name when posting here, Godiva2011. I am an MJF supporter. Whenever one of the Finchies posts it’s usually character assassination or a misrepresentation of the facts. Bill Finch is a liar. He’s on the record talking about a certain $600 tax rebate that never happened. He knew it wouldn’t happen and said it was coming. That means he is a liar.

Bill Finch is a bigot, no better than Carroll O’Connor’s character on “All In The Family.” When there was a public outcry voters had been disenfranchised from having a say in the state’s dissolution of the BOE Mr. Finch responded many of the parents of Bridgeport’s school children are illegal immigrants or criminals.

And now we know Mr. Finch is a crook. A complaint filed with the State Elections Enforcement Commission and investigations by reporters for the Connecticut Post have proven he has been laundering campaign funds through a PAC.

Mary-Jane Foster’s supporters do not own this page. The truth does.

        0
        1. TBK–Want to know why the $600 homestead exemption failed to pass up in Hartford? It was the failed lobbying efforts of Michele Mount, that’s why.

          0
      3. Me??? Just one–lisawhite. And you use how many??? Oh I see–you can throw out the garbage and hope it sticks … and when it doesn’t, you just throw out more accusations …

        0
          1. Godiva2011–if you have proof I have used more than one name on this board, you damn well better come out and say it and stop hiding behind the garbage you and the rest of the Finch supporters on this board are throwing out at the rest of the people who frequent this board.

            0
      4. This site is a last ditch “Save Finch.” It’s too little to late; Foster will cripple Finch in the primary and kill Torres in the general election. Prepare your paperwork for the unemployment office.

        0
          1. Highly unlikely, and again you are assuming. By the way, your comment is rather derogatory against anyone who might really work at McDonalds. Nothing wrong with that.

            0
    2. Well said, Grin.
“MJF is not a successful business person.” Truth spoken by an OIB commenter.

And if you don’t believe Grin and you’re looking for a slightly more credible source than an OIB commenter, just read today’s CT Post and you’ll see why the Bluefish never filed for bankruptcy.

The City bailed her out by lowering her rent.

And then Frank Boulton bailed her out with $250K in June 2008. Just a few months later, in October Boulton went and bought her out completely, picking up another $250K tab, to avoid losing the Bluefish.

She nearly ran the Bluefish out of town, yet she is running on the team as her success story.

      0
      1. Bill Finch has been fired from every job he ever held. He was handed every job he ever held. And he will be fired in September. Foster put her money into this city to build an American pie institution and hire countless people to build and maintain the stadium. The only reason why it wasn’t a fast moneymaker was because of the city administration’s lack of support. Where do you get off on the argument it was a failed business when she put her livelihood and children’s inheritance on the line? The mentality is amazing. Show some respect for a facility that is still standing and attempting to thrive.

        0
        1. “She nearly ran the Bluefish out of town.” Yeah, right. And if pigs had wings …

Contrary to the obfuscations you offer, the Bridgeport Bluefish are still here, still drawing crowds, still employing more than 140 people with seasonal and full-time jobs.

Bill Finch can claim to have “created” a few jobs if he counts all the incompetents and imbeciles he’s added to the city payroll.

          0
  18. Mary-Jane has qualified already. Finch, Mario and some DTC members know this and have told people. They didn’t expect her to qualify, didn’t want her to qualify but she did. Now Santa instructed her staff to go back and recount. If I were MJ, I’d be wary that some of those petitions may disappear. I hope she kept copies.

    0
    1. As Ms. Foster is an attorney it goes without saying her campaign has notarized copies of the petitions. Up to this point her campaign has anticipated every move by the Finch camp. If the signatures aren’t verified and the petitions certified in a timely manner there will be serious legal consequences for Ms. Ayala. She’s bound by the law. Bill Finch has demonstrated a preference for the low road.

      0
    1. I saw Gomes at the very successful Black Chamber of Commerce Meet and Greet. Mary-Jane Foster had a packed crowd and got a lot of support. Much to the chagrin of the Mayor I am sure. Winning–it is a team effort and we have every corner of the city getting excited and we need to keep it up–Finch signs are coming down daily except for the City-made signs on every block a street was paved–that is so lame.

      0
      1. Sorry, I take that back. John Gomes was not there at the Chamber, it was Ed Gomes I have seen. I hope John is out there doing something. I haven’t seen him doing anything on his campaign. It would be nice to see him out there for Mary-Jane. There is nothing worse than lip service.

        0
    1. Godiva–It is clear the people on this blog have ZERO power at all politically. None of them are successful and complain about taxes. For the cost of your taxes you can rent a U-Haul and get out of dodge.

      0
      1. You are on the money. I can’t help but wonder how they will utilize their time after Finch wins the primary, since blogging seems to take up such a large portion of their daily routine. They’d never move, what they fail to recognize is you get a lot of bang for your buck buying property in Bridgeport, even in spite of the taxes. Buying a home in the suburbs that is comparable would cost them double, so it’s all relevant.

        0
        1. Godiva–We need to go out for some coffee, girlfriend. While we are at it we can put together a strategy fashion intervention for MJF and her team. OMG what a disaster.

          1. I’d be happy to join you for coffee. However, I’ve already contacted the fashion police and they gave up on the intervention, some things just can’t be fixed. We must have the wisdom to know the difference. With her money, she can well afford to hire a personal shopper like the rest of the Fairfield fashionistas.

            0
          1. Yes, as a matter of fact I did. Keep in mind I’ve only been posting for two days unlike those of you who have made it a lifestyle. I’m sure your posts far outnumber mine.

            0
  19. Bill Finch is concerned with a six-figure paycheck and the perks that come with elected office, nothing more than that. Mario Testa is concerned with power and politics as sport, nothing more. The former has no record of achievement. His only hope of job security depends on the corrupt machinations of the latter.

    0
  20. WINNING–Word on the street is Mr. Gomes is having second thoughts. Look for Gomes to do a disappearing act.

Let me be the voice of reason here. Bill Finch and his work ethic as a councilman spearheaded the arena deal.

MJF camp is in deep trouble if John Kardaris is their attorney. The guy is a joke.

    0
    1. “… Bill Finch and his work ethic as a councilman spearheaded the arena deal …”

Mary, Mary, quite contrary! I served with Bill Finch on the City Council for five (5) of the six years I was on the council, Bill Finch was the Chairman of Contracts and Appointments Committee. That’s the Committee that could have prevented the Ganim Scandal. Bill Finch allowed all contracts to go out without any bids and never stopped to question the activities going on. He turned a blind eye to it all. He also had a committee (PAC) where he received money from city vendors and his cronies contributed to it. He then moved on to pillage his Senate Campaign Committee funds.

      0
      1. On the Finch for Senate Committee reports, it shows the woman who adopted Bill Finch contributed to this committee while his wife Sonya C. Finch was reimbursing herself and paying herself for consulting work under Emerald Consulting. Go to the CT Post and tell them I raised the adoption issue again.

        0
  21. Perhaps John, who is a sensible man, has a case of buyer’s remorse. If the best MJF can do is rally the handful of people posting caustic comments on here, she’ll have more trouble getting votes than she realizes.

    0
  22. Bill Finch has some heavy hitters in the Black and Latino communities that will be endorsing him soon. This is a done deal. MJF will be MF’ing her team when she gets word. Big News tomorrow!

    0
  23. Godiva–the people here fear what they don’t understand, hate what they can’t conquer. Guess it’s just the fury of man, it made them monsters, Finch is on top of the world as genuine a person as they come, from day one.

    0
  24. Mary, I completely agree with you, just spiteful green-eyed monsters. I swear some of them sound as if they applied for a job with his administration and were spurned. He is a genuinely decent man doing a decent job.

    0
    1. Godiva and Mary, how sad and uninformed you two are. Bill Finch and Adam Wood are desperate to keep their jobs because they are unable to find work anywhere else. Finch brags this is the first time in his life he is making 6 figures and can pay his bills. He actually says this to city employees making $30,000 who he has just jacked up for concessions. Finch is a piece of shit of a man and a mayor.

And I wouldn’t talk about John Gomes if I were you. Why don’t you tell us about Finch’s gumad? You know, the one who he hired and then promoted. The one who has no work skills or education. The one with the sexy facebook page. You know who I’m talking about. Every employee in the annex knows who I’m talking about.

You want to do a “fashion intervention” on MJF? Are you kidding me? That’s all you have to say? I feel sorry for you.

      0
      1. CHS–There is a “Patch” in your story. Bill Finch doesn’t fornicate. How dare you say such slander. You need to say a few novenas before bed tonight. Everyone knows LM has a skin condition and can only wear bikinis during warm weather. You are the one who is uninformed.

        0
        1. Mary95, thank you for confirming LM as the gumad. I never heard of a condition which causes a woman to go virtually unclothed during the warm weather. Too bad for her but good news for the mayor. Does she have trouble standing up too? Because she seems to be “leaning” on Billy a lot lately (I mean that literally).

          0
    1. I must say these are some of best reasons to vote for Mayor Finch by Godiva2011, NORTH45 and Mary_Choen95, wow this is some great stuff. Now, how do we get the public to know this? I know, let the Mayor give the residents of Bridgeport their $600 tax rebate before the election to show he didn’t lie because no one wants a mayor who would lie about giving them $600. The check is in the mail, right?

      0
      1. Ron–The Mayor is not at fault, somebody lied. He clearly stated this required a homestead exemption by the state legislature. He hired MCAT aka Michele Mount as the city’s lobbyist and her incompetence was key in this measure not seeing the light of day. Mayor Fabrizi had a strong legislative liaison and so does Bill Finch. The State delegation has respect again and has come off its best session in recent history. FACTS!!!

        0
        1. Ms. Mount cautioned Bill Finch about the $600 tax rebate, informing him it would need legislative approval. He didn’t care, just wanted to say it to impress voters. So he made a conscious decision to mislead city residents. FACT.

Bill Finch made a deal with a union representing some school employees before announcing the state would take over Bridgeport’s BOE. He did it to secure primary votes. FACT.

Bill Finch “donated” $46,00 to a PAC ironically named “People for Excellence in Government.” The only excellence Bill Finch and his people are concerned with is the excellent opportunity to launder unused campaign funds. FACT.

          0
  25. Perhaps one of the all-knowing supporters can answer that, I don’t know much about MJF, but somehow with all due respect, she doesn’t seem to be a good fit for mayor, at least not in Bridgeport. She’s not able to relate to ordinary people. Keep in mind she was an actress of sorts, so she can role-play quite well in making an attempt to garner votes.

    0
  26. Does anybody know when the next debate is? Bill is going to mop the floor with MJF. I hope her hairdresser gives her a good conditioner. That’s even if she is on the ballot. Then again, Bill would hire a pro for the job. Somebody like Joel Gonzalez. A man who knows how to stroke and caress a long brown hard piece of wood.

    0
    1. Oh Mary, I mean LM. Now I understand why you’re defending boyfriend Billy so much. I don’t blame you. First Billy gives you a job out of nowhere that you are not qualified for. Then he promotes you to another job which you are even less qualified for. And all this because you can only wear bikinis in the warm weather. Yeah, that Bill is a great man and a great father.

      0
      1. Why do all of you make so many assumptions? To hear you tell it everyone who supports Finch is an employee. Now I hate to make assumptions, but from what you post, I tend to believe you work in the annex. What’s your problem with the woman you are referring to? The mayor is a devoted husband and father, and to imply otherwise is just down and dirty. In either case, if I’m correct, you have a city job and he pays your salary, why are you biting the hand that feeds you?

        0
  27. In case you haven’t noticed, Mary_Choen95 and Godiva 2011 are the same person. Uh, Mary_Choen95, make sure there are enough folds in your fabulous gown to hide the colostomy can.

    0
    1. TBK–We are NOT the same person, trust me. If you saw me at the bar at Lucce I am the hottest JAP you will ever see. Your unemployment check would barely be enough to buy me two drinks. Run along, you simpleton!

      0
      1. I could care less about the sleazy upscale bar you fly in. Nor would I waste money buying a drink for a professional bimbo like yourself.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass, and don’t forget to take your Godiva2011 mask with you.

        0
    1. chs–This is foolishness. Ask MCAT why the $600 exemption didn’t go through. All of the fools are in your court!

      MCAT // Aug 20, 2011 at 12:32 am
Lennie, you can put my name back on the roster team Foster, I will be back in town on Monday. I am sure we will be more than ready to fight the good fight.

      0
      1. Such a crude and vulgar comment. I truly hope MJF realizes what a vile low-life you are. Again with crass sexual innuendos, and a piece of advice, implying someone is in the business of prostitution just because you don’t agree with their opinions is libelous. Perhaps the moderator on here should clean up your act and delete your comments since you aren’t capable of realizing just how disgusting you really are!

        0
  28. Bill Finch created the conservation corps, a very successful program in Bridgeport. President Obama is now going to take this same program national. That is Excellence.

    0
      1. Shame on you TBK, why must you resort to sexual innuendos, you need to clean up your act and get your mind out of the gutter, if that’s at all possible. It appears you have difficulty expressing yourself without vulgarity, that’s not exactly a plus for Team Foster. I may not support her candidacy, but I believe she is a lady who might frown upon some of your comments. And think what you want, but we are not the same person using two names, unlike some of the others who post here.

        0
        1. I’m not a campaign employee of the Foster campaign, Mary_Choen95/Godiva2011. I am a supporter, it is true. But I’ve chosen to maintain my independence. That way I can be as frank and as salty as I wish. You, on the other hand, are a fraud.

          0
          1. Free speech has its limits Kid, and you’ve exceeded what is acceptable by anyone’s standards. I can certainly see why you are not a paid Foster staff member, you are far too crude for any respectable woman’s liking. Do you actually have a job? I hope you are more respectful of your female coworkers than you are when posting your comments.

            0
          2. If you were a true lady instead of a pampered menial, you’d be taking it in stride.

            0
    1. So then why was Lisa “promoted” out of that program and given a hefty raise? You know, if she was doing such a great job. BTW, was the job advertised? What were the qualifications? Just asking because I know Lisa does not have a college degree. She must have other “qualifications” Bill liked.

      0
        1. Oh I don’t need to ask her. I know EXACTLY why she was promoted. It was a win-win for Bill. He gave Lisa a promotion which made her VERY happy. Then he gave her old job to Willie Murphy which made district leader Ralph Ford happy. Neither job was advertised or posted. That’s what the Finch administration is all about. Giving jobs to politically connected people who don’t have a fucking clue what they are doing. Then other employees are forced to do the real work. That, girlfriends, is exactly what happened. If you don’t believe me, meet me for a cup of coffee and I’ll give you all the down and dirty details.

          0
  29. TBK–You are disgusting. Run along and take a pill so it can be ready “when the moment is right.”

chs–Lisa was not promoted. She has always been the head person when it came to major projects. She had to swallow her pride and deal with all of these bitches who hate her.

    0
    1. And I just complained to the moderator about this post. You don’t belong on here if this is the kind of comment you resort to. I’m sure other members of the MJF club who maintain some standard of dignity agree you are beyond acceptable limits. You are an angry dysfunctional man.

      0
        1. Smoker, I know I’m only guessing, but if you are a woman, and I think you are, then you should find that comment offensive. I may not agree with your choice of a candidate, but I would never resort to calling you a whore. No matter what candidate you are supporting, the “Kid’s” comments are vulgar and degrading to any and all women, including Ms. Foster and every other woman on here. I find no humor in it whatsoever, and the comment should be deleted.

          0
          1. Mary-Jane Foster would not like these posts, that much you have correct. Ms. Foster would appreciate the fact I’m exercising my right to free speech as guaranteed by the U.S. constitution.

My guess is it is Tom Kelly …

            0
          2. It’s all protected speech, Godiva2011. Buying a pair of fancy shoes and a gown to wear to Bill Finch’s concession speech doesn’t make you a lady. Remember to dress a little more conservatively when applying for a real job.

            0
          3. Must be hitting home with what I’ve been saying or you wouldn’t have taken offense. The truth hurts, doesn’t it, dearie?

            0
          4. Are my comments vulgar? Sure. But you opened the door by posting lies and fabrications. If you want to be treated like a lady you ought to try acting like one. A pair of tits doesn’t entitle you to insult other people’s intelligence.

            0
          5. Try to re-read and comprehend this time before your uncontrollable temper gets the best of you; yes, your comments are vile, I posted no lies nor fabrications. Not one other poster responded in the vulgar manner as you did. I am a lady, as is Mary, whom you’ve accused of being me. I’ve read back on several blogs and you attack people like a mad dog when you don’t agree with them. If you want to preach “free speech” consider the right to do so belongs to all, not just you. Again–freedom of speech isn’t always free when you are pinning libelous labels on women who are out of your league. And having a pair of balls doesn’t entitle you to refer to women you don’t even know as whores. As far as insulting your intelligence, that situation speaks for itself. I am not interested in communicating with someone like you, so spare yourself the trouble of replying. I wouldn’t spit on you if you were on fire.

            0
          6. I’m way out of your league, whoever you are. I do attack but only if another blogger is posting the lies and fabrications and obfuscations and out-and-out distortions that you have been proffering.

Politics is not a game for the upper classes, or in your case the upper classless. The future of the city is at stake here. All Bill Finch has done with his political career is enrich himself by laundering money through a political action committee while enriching his “friends” with city jobs. It is appalling Mr. Finch’s choices of department heads shows little regard for competency and qualification. Mr. Finch responded to public distress over their disenfranchisement by saying many of them are illegal immigrants and criminals so democracy wouldn’t work.

If I offended you, well that’s all good. You ought to be offended. Bill Finch has no record of achievement as mayor, only lies and broken promises. So you and the other side of your mouth attack the qualifications of the opposing candidate. Perhaps Ms. Foster would be offended by some of my remarks. If she is I will apologize to her personally. If you are logging onto OIB at Bill Finch’s behest and are accepting some form of material benefit from the arrangement, well that clearly establishes what kind of woman you really are.

            0
      1. Oh ouch. Somebody get the mercurochrome. I’m hit.

If you don’t care for the things I say it is advisable to not act like a punk to do the mayor’s bidding. Bill Finch is a clown. He does not care about the people of the city of Bridgeport anymore than you do.

        0
    1. So tell us, what are you going to do after the primary? Bill Finch will be out of a job come December. Perhaps you ought to find a barstool at Molto. I’m sure there are a few rogue males who would support a professional bimbo.

      0
  30. You know girls, I have nothing against Lisa personally. My issue is with Bill Finch. He is the one who wiped out hundreds of good employees and brought in his cronies. Lisa just happens to be one of them.

    0
  31. You know what, Godiva? I am in agreement regarding the recent posting war. Although I would never take comments down that road, some folks get carried away within the comment stream in the heat of the moment. However, I also found the “fashion” comments to be distasteful and a little sophomoric. You may be a woman, and you may even be a beautiful woman who tries to carry herself gracefully, and I am thinking the “what not to wear” link was also a far departure from your everyday “normal.” I think we should ALL clean it up.

    0
    1. Zena, I didn’t post that, but I found it harmlessly amusing nonetheless. Far worse has been posted on here besides taking a little jab at someone’s fashion sense or lack thereof. Some posters see fit to call people names such as adulterer, unfit father, racist, thief and numerous others, far too many to mention. That in and of itself is far more derogatory than posting an opinion about someone’s choice of apparel. You and I aren’t on the same page with our choice of a mayoral candidate, but I would never pin a defamatory or degrading label on you or anyone else because of a difference of political opinions. A certain poster does nothing but pollute this forum with “free speech” peppered with four-letter words and libelous comments. Freedom of speech isn’t always free when you make unfounded comments which can be damaging to another person.

      0
      1. I stand corrected, Godiva, the posts on this string are just so long it took a minute. I don’t play like that either. No we are not on the same page candidate-wise, but Mary-Jane has a whole host of decent folks supporting her, including the poster you are talking about. This string just got WAAAYY too out of line, and went way beyond political sparring, on both ends. I get your point for sure but I really did think the fashion stuff was petty and not on point at all. Peace out.

        0
  32. I’m all for MJF getting ballot access, but was it really necessary or appropriate to refer to the Finch/Ayala shenanigans as “Tea Party tactics?” If anything, this is a classic example of the kind of blatant corruption the Bridgeport Democrat machine is infamous for. Sandi Ayala could teach a master class in f-ing up elections, she doesn’t need to look to the Tea Party for lessons.
