Finch To Provide State Commissioner Tour Of Development Projects

Mayor Bill Finch will guide Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Robert Klee on a bus tour Monday afternoon of green business and economic development sites starting at the Pleasure Beach fishing pier and advancing to the Steel Point redevelopment area and other related projects. More on this from Finch Communications Director Brett Broesder:

As Bridgeport continues making significant progress on job creation, economic development, and becoming one of the greenest city in America, Mayor Bill Finch will be joined by DEEP Commissioner Robert Klee for a bus tour of key sites across the Park City.

“Bridgeport is a leader on environmental and energy issues and I am eager to see first-hand the progress Mayor Finch and his team have been making. The city is setting the pace in seizing opportunities to invest in a future that will feature economic growth through ‘green’ jobs and sustainable practices that benefit the health and well being of its residents.”

  1. Andy,
I know you won’t believe it but with economic development at a snail’s pace and jobs growth negative in the City, it is rumored the Mayor’s newest green idea features a brand-new transportation alternative for the City and it will not be funded by a grant. Surprised?

More surprising is the Minority Enterprise tip of the hat in the naming of the new business … it’s the Shiksa Rickshaw Co LTD, formed by a group of unemployed Christian women who want equal opportunities with equal pay and observed the City of Bridgeport publicly had cars, buses and trucks as well as bikes, Segways, mopeds, cycles, scooters, horses, water taxis, etc. but no rickshaws to help people get to the number of Asian restaurants in the City.

The idea came up in one of those secret cabinet meetings, but since it deals with private enterprise, minority business, eco friendly, and since the potholes are fixed, it seems a no-brainer, doesn’t it? And the Council doesn’t need to vote on it apparently either. Imagine that. We’ll have to wait for their initial start, but Bridgeporters have learned to be patient. Time will tell.

  2. John Marshall Lee is a rugged individual while ACF is being recognized as a delicate collectivist who subtracts value from Bridgeport by maintaining his status as a documented doom freak and fiscal liability. He never stops!

    1. LE, it’s time to change the aluminum foil in your helmet. What have I said that has not come true? The rickshaws will eventually be banned for putting out too much methane gas.

      1. ACF’s extreme opinions makes him an asset to this blog. His inability to sit on the fence is impressive and makes the aluminum foil on my helmet look ridiculous.

  3. Look at a map with the points to be visited … wouldn’t water be the most efficient mode of transport here? Kayak? Canoe? Boat?

    How about bikes?

What, the press couldn’t cover it then?

Who’s paying for these photo-op bus tours?

  4. Hey! They can’t smoke those spliffs at Kossuth River Street Park. They need to go to the Seaside Solar Landfill. It’s not a park, ya know. 🙂

$80K to move to New Haven. That is what BPT should be doing. Once you get people in the homes, owners not renters. You have consumers then you get business. Local business. The best kinds of business. Businesses that were started by local people, hire local people, pay local taxes and support local communities. This is what BPT should be doing. How many people could BPT have put in homes with the money BPT spent on Bass Pro?

Watch New Haven become the next Stamford while BPT continues to languish.

  6. New Haven is already the next Stamford. As far as Steal Pit, what the hell has happened in the City over the years under “Billy Bird,” Adam Woodpecker and the gang? This is the same bus trip I took 13 years ago.
