‘Eat, Shop, Get A New Phone,’ Officials Cut Ribbon For T-Mobile Store On Steel Point

Sandwiched by Starbucks and Chipotle, Mayor Joe Ganim and other city and state officials Friday morning cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the T-Mobile store at the Steel Point redevelopment area of the East Side.

State Rep. Chris Rosario, whose district includes the development formally known as Steelpointe Harbor, summed up the good cheer for the event declaring to the crowd, “Eat, shop and get a new phone.”

Rosario was joined by several members of the city’s state legislative delegation that helped shepherd state funds for the development area anchored by Bass Pro Shops wooed by the mayoral administration of Bill Finch. State Senator Ed Gomes, State Rep. Charlie Stallworth and State Rep. Andre Baker, all of whom could face August Democratic primaries, also attended the ribbon cutting. In a key election season incumbents are not likely to phone in this type of event.
