Councilman Casco Under Pressure To Resign

From Brian Lockhart, CT Post:

(Jose) Casco is under pressure to resign his seat on that 20-person legislative body following his arrest Sunday night over an argument with his estranged wife.

State Rep. Christopher Rosario  is head of the Democrats in Casco’s City Council district. Rosario said Friday that he has encouraged Casco to step down from both the council and the Democratic Town Committee to deal with his personal issues.

“If it’s going to impair him in any way of performing his duties, I think he should step aside,” Rosario said, adding Casco needs to focus on getting help for himself and his marriage.

Jose Casco needs to apologize, first to his wife, then apologize to his district and the council for his action and he should have already done this. Right or wrong, he needs to do this.

Well it’s three days later, has Jose Casco done any of the items I listed yet?

  2. Ron Mackey–I agree, an apology from this man should be forthcoming. I also do not approve of him throwing around his elected status to the police, but since he had been drinking, his judgement was impaired. When he sobered up and realized what he did, the embarrassment he probably feels is punishment in and of itself. However, I don’t feel he should be forced to resign from the Bridgeport Council. This arrest is a personal family matter and a misdemeanor.

  3. *** HE’S NOT THE FIRST NOR WILL HE BE THE LAST POL TO GET PINCHED FOR A MISDEMEANOR. HIS MISTAKE WAS TRYING TO USE HIS LOCAL POLITICAL POSITION TO GET OUT OF TROUBLE. ***

  4. If you ever have to ask “do you know who I am,” it is not going to end well.
What he did is personal and private; but I feel people who are elected should be held to a higher standard. His actions with police, regardless of being under the influence are an embarrassment reflected on the city. He is fortunate that given Bridgeport’s current state of embarrassment, perhaps it’s par for the course.

  5. *** Time will not change things Casco, it’s better to fall on the sword of truth, apologize and make amends; rather than lie, try to use your political position and wait out the outcome, which could be a political and public media execution! *** WHOOP ***
