Charges Dismissed Against Fire Captain

Charges have been dropped against Bridgeport Fire Captain Darrien Penix who was accused in August of stealing funds from the Firebirds Society, a fraternal organization that fights for the rights of minority firefighters.

Darrien Penix, 43, was charged with second degree larceny accused of embezzling more than $15,000 using the Firebird Society’s credit card and checking account for his personal use.

Penix paid back all the money, according to his lawyer Frank Ricco. “Captain Penix is very happy criminal proceedings are over and he can now focus his attention on his employment status.”
