Caribbean Jerk Fest On Saturday, McLevy Green

News release:

The 13th Annual Caribbean Jerk Festival will take place on Saturday, August 17th from 2 to 8 p.m. on McLevy Green in downtown Bridgeport, CT. The event is sponsored by the West Indian American Association of Greater Bridgeport, Inc. DJ Ruler Tone will provide music throughout the entire event. The line-up of entertainers includes Jah Movement Band, The Klein Dancers, Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County, District 4 Dancers, Joel Glaude, Dominic Lee, Elius, Ras T., New Creation Step Team, Rhythm Master Band, Andrew Bell, Thecelebrityy & Chyna Nicole.

Various food vendors such as Awesome Sauce, Caribbean Mix-it-Up, Ethan’s Grill Food Truck, Mommy’s Patties, Next Generation Concessions, Jackie’s Tropical Fruits,  Hazel & Carl Cuisine and R&R Catering will provide food for sale. Merchandise & business vendors includes Bridgeport Braces, Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, Graceavor Hand Craft Jewelry, Kingston Krafts, McLean Smiles, Parker’s Pampering, Posh Gals, Rico Suave Accessories, Royaltees LLC, S&G Contractors & TW Home Essentials.

Sponsors include the City of Bridgeport, PSEG, Ernest & Joan Trefz Foundation, People’s United Bank, Golden Crust & Bruce Sanderson.

The West Indian American Association of Greater Bridgeport (WIAAGB) is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It serves as a beacon of hope for West Indian-Americans in the area. We are a community oriented, social organization devoted to expand opportunities for all people and provide leadership in maintaining and fostering Caribbean culture and education. We take active interest in educational, cultural and social activities that benefit the local community and the Caribbean.

WIAAGB wears the mantel as “ambassador” in the Caribbean community. We fulfill our mission through our compassionate and dedicated members and a very small operating budget. We have no paid staff, funding is by dues paid by members and the modest proceeds from three events per year that we offer. We are all volunteers and a hundred percent of our financial resources go directly to fund our programs.
