Al Sharpton Poised For Peace March, Moore Calls Invitation Appalling

Rev. Al Sharpton is scheduled to lead a peace march on Saturday with the blessing of city minister Herron Gaston, a city administrator.

The rally, according to News 12, will start at the Baker Isaac Funeral Home on Stratford Avenue at 10 a.m. and end at the Margaret Morton Government Center

State Senator Marilyn Moore, writing on her Facebook page, calls the invitation appalling. Gaston did not support her for mayor.

I find it appalling that an elected official and a head city administrator would call in Al Sharpton to lead a march when they are in positions of power and have done little to facilitate change. The people of Bridgeport have cried out for change and their voices are ignored. Families camp out in front of the PD and are ignored. Call out the people in power who capitalize on our current crisis. What have they done to sustain this system that works against us and not for us and looks like us? Sick and tire of the fake folks who remain silent in voice and action. Trickery will not work, we are at a crossroads for real, sustainable change to happen and we can not allow insincerely and publicity acts to get in the mix. We have witnessed this play out over and over. NOT THIS TIME! OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS LIVES ARE IN JEOPARDY AND THE TIME IS NOW TO END THE DISRESPECT FOR THEIR LIVES.

  1. State Senator Marilyn Moore, I STRONGLY suggest that you call Rev. Sharpton and have a conversation about your concerns that you have listed. This nothing but trickery by city minister Herron Gaston, a city administrator he his effort to give cover to Mayor Ganim his failure to make positive change in the BPD. Rev. Sharpton needs to know about the police killing of Jason Negron, the incident with 3 cops killing a black man who is on his stomach at Beardsley Park and the party on Colorado Ave that involved 17 cops and so many other incidents and Mayor Ganim has done nothing and Rev. Herron Gaston voice has been silence. Mayor Ganim is looking for cover.

    1. If she could call him don’t you think she would? Nobody will take her call but a fool who would listen. She is powerless or she would have won mayor.

Stephanie Thompson, that was in The Huffington Post, not the Connecticut Post or Only In Bridgeport or any other local media outlet, no, The Huffington Post, a national newspaper, the article helped .Herron Keyon Gaston to get appointed to his City position making over $130,000 a year, where his follow up letter with demands to make change? Yeah, that’s what I thought, nothing but silence.

        1. In fact that’s Rev. Herron Gaston MO (Modus Operandi), he was writing and giving interviews in Florida but he was living here in Bridgeport but nobody knew anything he was writing about in Florida but the very best researcher ever on OIB (not Maria) who pulled my coat about Rev. Herron Gaston.

          0
          1. You are a big dummy! Dr. Gaston wrote for CNN, the HUFF Post, & FLorida related newspapers. He also was a lobbyist who helped to get many bills passed in Florida and CT around criminal justice. If ya’ll dumb asses knew anything you would know that he is one of the leading voices around prison reform and mass incarceration! Why are you all intimidated by intelligence? You remind me of the old black asses in the 60s who hated on Dr. King. All this tells me is that you all are jealous and outdated. Move over. Your time has come and gone. Get over Dr. Gaston he is not at all worried about you all.

            6+
        2. He did not need to be appointed to a job in Bridgeport. He has held bigger roles elsewhere. Tell me why you never made it to his level in the City or at his age? It sounds to me that you are the one who has been silent and irrelevant in making change in Bridgeport! oh. I forgot all you do is talk loud and say NOTHING. At least he is known and respected by the WHO’s WHO of the world? What about you? Nobody knows your name outside of OIB and Mt. Aery Baptist Chruch when you do attend.

    2. Just two weeks ago I was calling out for the so called Black leaders of this City!
Thank you Rev. Al for coming !

What’s next, Pandering Joe in Black Face?

  2. Herron Gaston, an opportunist from the word GO! Ron Mackey peeped his whole card when he first posted on OIB when he excoriated Ernie about his Stop and Frisk nonsense. I haven’t heard anything about him being out in the community! Do Black folks need Al Sharpton to tell them the problems that Black folks face in Bridgeport, Connecticut or the Nation, Hell No! Instead of hitting the streets meeting the people and listening to their concerns and experiences in real time, it appears as if he is trying to get Al to give him instant credibility among the culture. There a far few independent thinkers among the hierarchy of the Black Community and the ones out there for the most part, Good, Bad or Indifferent, did it by going into to community.
Now the question is what Councilmen, State Rep or Senate position is he being groomed to take with the blessings and guidance of Mayor Ganim, Mario and the all powerful DTC? OPPORTUNIST? WE HAVE ENOUGH ALREADY BRUH!

    1. Donnie, please tell me what the hell have you done in Bridgeport? Dr. Gaston is out here in these damn streets helping the community. Where have you been? What have you done in the past five years? Let me answer that: NOTHING. You are one ignorant person. You and Marilyn and Ron belong together. Your pastor need to help you all find GOD!

    2. Do your homework.https://www.themertoncenter.org/ My aunt’s Geraldine pastor feed this community by the hundreds. I know because i volunteer there. I see the people he help WITHOUT the fanfare! WTF have you done? Tell me! This man has personally put dozens of kids into college on HIS OWN. WTF have you done? Tell me and I will shut up! You are mad because he brings something to the city that YOU don’t!

  3. Ron, and Day you are like CNN, no bounds in your assessments.

Ron for starters, the cops didn’t kill the kid and Beardsley Park, and the black cop was the only one who got off while the white and Latino cop didn’t. That is partially reverse racism you talking about in the Port’s law enforcement., and he was the worse cop among them too. He couldn’t even be mad at the kid for making them casing him around the Port and through the park. In fact, the only running he did was when he gets out of his patrol car to the run-up to the kid to him while he was handcuffed and laying on his stomach. Day, you’d think you would’ve corrected your OIB dynamic duo partner Ron to that. (side note this goes to Rayshard incident. those guns have multiple shots I believe. So image if he got the drop on those cops with it. Not saying it had to end that way after they fought and he had taken the taser. I’m my opinion You really don’t know what could have happened, but you know he was determined to know go to jail. You have to give the cop the benefit of the doubt.

Also so Ron I wouldn’t be too harsh on I candy Rev. Gaston. The only cover I have seen was the 12 or so black and Latino cops’ reports on the white offices who abuse those partygoers. That speaks volumes on the reality of the racism and the Port the law enforcement in general.

I will concede on the need for the firing of the cop who shot two teens and killed one. I will say that incidence was more of willful reckless incompetence then racial motivates incident though. Unlike the cops who tried to arrest Rayshard this trainee officer was one week on the streets of the Port> Boulay created the danger he faced by his reckless incompetence to follow procedures. I hope the Justice of Jayson who camped out in front of the police station got the city council to create a resolution for an independent internal investigation on his action regarding the death of Jayson because as you have seen and the police have demonstrated they can’t be fully trusted investigate themselves considering the after make for the Holloween party incident and those cop reporting. Right? JS

  4. If Sharpton brings so much good to the table in troubled communities around the country why isn’t he camped out in Chicago where as of 5:42PM on Sunday June 21st, (so far this weekend), there have been 61 people shot, with 9 dead. These stats include a 3 year old boy and a 13 year old girl.
    Sad.

    8+
    1. Rich, there’s no money to be made there, but if any of those 61 people were shot by a cop and the family was suing?,Sharpton would be there in minutes..

      1. Tell me what black leader the system have ever supported? when haven’t other black people not hated on other blacks? Racism taught people to hate black people, and also taught other black people to hate on black people. A good example: Ron and Don. They make for an interesting case study.

        0
      2. Rich, don’t confuse people. The only Black Lives that Matter are those involving action by police officers.
Criticizing the lack of attention by ‘Rev’ Sharpton to violent slayings in Chicago does not conform to the ‘Black Lives Matter’ narrative.
        Stay in yo lane.

    2. No sir. No sir. No sir. Don’t blame troubled communities for failed social policies, affecting these communities; hence, the crime level. There is a correlation between poverty and crime. I have to check you on your entitlement on this one.

  5. Rich that is why I was upset with Ernie calling for stop and frisk after the 12 boys got shot in the Port. I know it didn’t come from him per se but more from the party in the capital. It changed the conversation to racism by cops. You know that by the Governor coming down to visit the family. Drugs are not going anywhere, other than legalization. Where does a 3 year old or kids fit in this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttLJNOOsPiY

  6. C’mon fellas, this isn’t about Al Sharpton, it’s about Herron Gaston feeling the need to bring outside help to a community that the person asking hasn’t done much if anything to heal the ills of the community. The question is, “What have you done Herron Gaston, to help the culture for the betterment of the community at large?”

This isn’t about Al, Tawana Brawley or any of the other nonsense emanating from some of you, it’s merely about, Herron Gaston coming in the community to make it better before he asks someone else to do what he hasn’t done!

    2+
    1. Don, look how fast they forgot about Joe Ganim stealing over $500,000 from the taxpayers and then voted the felon back into being mayor again twice, by the way how much money did Al Sharpton steal and how many years did he stay in federal prison?

    2. His name is Dr. Herron Gaston, little Donnie Day with no significant educational title! And He has done more than you have done all of your time in Bridgeport. He puts you to SHAME old black man! What the hell have you done? Answer me! I am waiting little Don 🙂

I can see it now. There have justice for Jayson Day in the city. Once they get Rev Al to agree all of the so called leaders in the city will line up to march. The out of town era like Sen Blumenthal, Murphy and Rep Himes will come to the port. Ganim will give Rev Al the keys to the city. They will all go up to Testo’s for breakfast or lunch or dinner, whatever will get Mario the best bang for the buck. Then they’ll all kiss 💋 and tell everyone what a great day it was. Then they’ll go back to the suburbs and pat themselves on the back and shed a couple of crocodile tears.
And everything will be fine in Bport.

    5+
    1. Rev. Herron Gaston has not been in Bridgeport that long and he’s been rented with a City job making over $100,000. And what are they protesting with this protest march and march route will not go by any homes or black own businesses? I think once Rev Al gets the facts about the mayor and the BPD I believe the protesters will end up in Ganm’s office demanding answers.

      1+
      1. Ron, Dr. Gaston is worth way more than 100,000 dollars. Since you are a master researcher and knows every thing about everybody go check the records he made more than that at other government jobs. I did my homework. You sound like you are mad for real. You are one evil miserable old man. Today is fathers day– how do you have so much time to be on here. Oh, i forgot nobody looks up to you, so you have to find an audiance. Thank you. Good night old man.

  10. It would seem that the thing to do, in the case of carefully-considered concerns regarding potential negative/counterproductive effects implicit in a Sharpton-Gaston peace march in Bridgeport, would be to (without nurturing/unleashing the anger/hostility/negativity involved in the political rivalries raising the alarms regarding these concerns), organize a better, more appropriate, separate march/action that will harness the true righteousness of the Moore Camp in addressing the BLM-Bridgeport political/policing concerns providing the impetus for the Sharpton-Gaston march/action.

Perhaps a Moore March, providing starting and ending speeches/ceremonies (delivering the true, righteous message of BLM/Civil-political justice concerns/solutions in Bridgeport), starting from the North Avenue jail (for relevant, topical symbolism), passing by the BPDHQ/Tent Town, the Bridgeport Juvenile Jail/Courthouse, and ending at McClevy Green/McClevy Hall (where Lincoln gave a speech) could be held on Sunday at Noon, following the end of most Bridgeport area church services. The local and national media would be invited to cover the march and speeches — delivering the true, righteous, relevant message of concern — by local clergy/activists and perhaps a nationally-known civil-rights leader (to be invited/hosted), such as John Lewis.

Truly: If the Moore for Senate camp believes that the Sharpton-Gaston/Ganim-(D)Establishment march will be a negative event with counter-productive effects on the current BLM/Civil Justice movement, they should organize and hold their march/action to deliver the true and righteous message. If they are really concerned, then they have a duty to not just complain, but actually DO something appropriate/productive-effective…

In short; Senator Moore: QUIT WHINING AND ACT LIKE A (sitting) STATE SENATOR!… (Its time for you to think for yourself and stop sitting on your hands and bs-ing your Bridgeport constituents — on behalf of your out-of-town union handlers/suburban constituents — or step aside and support someone that has a clue and some initiative and real zeal for Bridgeport and its people…)

(I’ll look forward to attending your event…)

    3+
    1. Moore is mad at Dr. Gaston because he did not support her for Mayor. My aunt who goes to his church told me that Pastor Gaston asked to meet with her when people were handing out petitions. He even signed her petition to my understanding and told her to come by. She felt she did not need no BLACK clergy support. She felt entitled. Paul who attends his church said he was there when the pastor asked to speak with her! She is a terrible human! I saw her off Stratford Ave during the election and she was NASTY to black people. All she do is complain and divide the community! Lennie, stop giving this woman free press she is irrelevant.

  11. I tried my best to stay up off here. First of all, what the hell has Marilyn Moore done besides run her damn mouth? If she was so popular and pushing for black people in Bridgeport, why hasn’t she been able to do anything for Bridgeport? Oh, I forgot she is too busy being run by the political operatives of Trumbull and the likes. So, you mean to tell me she is only now looking to change racist policies, please, that she herself upholds? She has been a failed senator. Ron and Don, all you do is run off at your mouth. You have done nothing for this community. Stop talking shit about Rev.Gaston. He has done more in the six years that he has been here than you would ever do. You hating ass black ass MF. 1. @Stephanie Thompson

To put it bluntly: You don’t know what the h*ll you’re talking about!
Re: Senator Moore “she is too busy being run by the political operatives of Trumbull …”

In 2014 she primaried and DEFEATED sitting Dem Senator Anthony Musto of Trumbull. At the D22 Democratic Convention held at Testo’s she rec’d only one of Trumbull’s 18 votes (I was there and a delegate)
In 2016 she was challenged in a primary by CC President Tom McCarthy. Trumbull’s TDTC supported him at the convention and the primary and she destroyed him at the polls.
In 2018 Testa/Ganim could not get anyone to run against her.
In 2020 she is being punished for running against Ganim. She gathered only 10 convention votes from Tumbull (of 18) including mine. None from Monroe or Bridgeport.
Trumbull Town Treasurer and TDTC Vice Chair Anthony Musto is the Treasurer of the Marcus Briown Campaign, Trumbull Town Clerk Mary Markham, also a member of the Democratic State Committee and Chair of the D22 Convention also voted for Brown.
Far from being run by the ‘political operatives’ in Trumbull, she is opposed by two of our town wide elected officials, Musto also being Chair of The TDTC Executive Committee.

If you don’t know the facts, stop spewing lies, you resemble Donald Trump

      1. If I resemble Donald Trump, you resemble Daffy Duck. Moore WE Bridgeporters SAID NO MORE. She got her ass toasted in the general election, losing at nearly every poll. She also lost her court battle. She’s lost more than she has won. I can’t wait for Brown to kick her ass at the polls! Retire this devil.

So, you can’t refute the facts which proved your statement to be a lie, so you start trash talking.
“WE Bridgeporters” means shit in a 3 municipality State Senate District. unlike the mayoralty race. Mrs. M and I are Bridgeport taxpayers, are you”
D22 represents only part of Bridgeport, but ALL of Trumbull.
Last Night the TDTC had its monthly meeting and a chance for updates form the various state campaigns.
Senator Moore was in Zoom attendance, made her report on the campaign, as well as her regular report as our State Senator.
Your favorite, Brown, was neither seen or heard. His Campaign Treasurer was in attendance, but gave no report of the campaign.
Guess Mario and Joe did’t authorize their attendance….The puppet strings only reach so far.
BTW>>>Senator Moore didn’t lose her court battle, she was not a party to the independent (of her campaign) suit you wrote about. In the past she has won 2 D22 Democratic Primaries, 3 D22 elections and lost 1 Bpt Mayoral Primary and 1 Bpt Mayoral election.
That’s FIVE WINS and two losses.
I sure hope you don’t teach any math to your SPED students, because you need a remedial class in basic arithmetic.

      0
    2. You call them social climbers because they bring a gift to the city. Sometimes an outside perspective is good. Why criticize it? Be honest, people have to want to live in Bridgeport and I am from here. This is a demoralized city. This is a city where people will stab you, cut you, and shoot you, and then turn around and miss you after they hurt you. Rev. Thompson was a smart man. Alvin Penn was a good man. and Rev. Gaston is a FINE and GREAT YOUNG man! What is the problem? Because they are not from here they can’t be involved here? I don’t get it. Enlighten me please?

      6+
  15. Joseph Sokolovick, I’ve asked Stephanie Thompson a number of question about who she is, what has she done to uplift the black community and who knows her because no one on OIB have ever spoken up that they her. Stephanie Thompson, people know who you are and I’ve disagreed with you on certain issues but you are known, Tom White, I have had issues with him but people know that Tom as a former city council member and a business, the late Andy Fardy, we would go after each other all the time but people knew Andy and he serve his city as a park commissioner and as a firefighter and knew if I something happen to me at fire that Andy would put his life on the line to help me, the same for Donald Day, he put his life on line every day in serving the residents of this city as a firefighter, the public knows who Donald Day is, it doesn’t matter if you agreed with him but they know who he is. Now for Stephanie Thompson, NOBODY knows her, NOBODY, she comes OIB only when Rev. Gaston’s name comes up. A few years ago Rev. Gaston wrote a letter on OIB criticizing Ernie Newton on a issue and there was a lot of back and forth on the topic but Stephanie Thompson jumped in trying to defend Rev. Gaston’s name but she all she did was name calling to a point where Rev. Gaston had to write a responds to tell Stephanie Thompson to stop.

    0
    1. Ron ask Joseph Sokolovick why he only chimed in on this police and racial abuse debate? And why were you not jumping in to defend eye candy Rev. 🙂 Or did you support Ernie and stop and frisk? Not defending Stephanie, but not sure what’s going on in the black community when a march to stop police abuse of black people that’s being led by a black worldwide nation civil rights figure and sponsored by a black council member who marches with the Dr. King at Selma and a Reverend who runs a youth program is being criticized by black people on OIB. As a white person being white I may not understand it. Can you please tell me why a black person being black is against this?

The purpose of my public commentary to you, is that pursuant to the provisions of section 52-237 of the Connecticut General Statutes, that you retract, in as public a manner as they were made, the libelous statements which you made regarding me. Should you fail to do so, I will not hesitate to pursue all available legal remedies against you. Thank you.

To that I say to Herron Gaston and anyone else who finds my posts offensive, These Are My Opinions and If You Find Them Offensive I Really Don’t Give A Damn. Oh by way, I’ll see you in Court! I won’t let you or anyone else abridge my 1st Amendment Rights Herron Gaston!

    1. OUCH, Don, you must have hit a nerve, now we have Rev. Herron Gaston feeling hurt that you have made comments about. Don, Rev. Herron Gaston has serve on the Civil Service Commission and was the Acting Chairman yet he has been SILENCE on speaking out on institutional racism (also known as systemic racism) right here in the Bridgeport Fire and Police Departments. The city HAS NOT hired any women in 12 years, especially black women and what did Rev. Herron Gaston say and do about this systemic racism? Don, these protesters need to march directly to Mayor Ganim’s office and demand answers and change immediately but Ganim and all the other elected officials will be hugged up on Rev. Al Sharpton to get that photo-op.

      1. Ron you sound stupid. What the hell did you all do? He can’t change the hearts and minds of people. He didnt create racism. That is not his job to undo. That is the job of white people and black people like you. If you and fat ass worked in the fire department why didn’t you all do anything to change it. You know why you didn’t, because you all are failures. Don’t look for someone to bring down due to your failure. You all are crabs in a barrel. White folks don’t have to do it to you, we do it to ourselves. You and Don are so stupid to attack a black man, and a preacher at that! No respect. Downright devilish. I pray that God handle you two real good. And at your age, all of you, including marilyn should be careful especially in the age of COVID. Spread more love and stop the hate devils.

        1+
    2. Is calling Rev. Gaston eye candy liable? Then again if it’s my opinion so can it a falsehood? Plato suggested in Symposium that beauty is an objective quality. To be on the safe side. I detect. My bad. 🙂

      0
      1. He is eye candy that would be a fact. Don old fat ass want him it seems. Everybody in Bridgeport know what Don likes. Undercover. I told you Don. I know your business. Don’t make me put it out there for the world to know the secret you been hiding.

        2+
    3. Don, you are a sick fat MF. You live out of town and act like you care so much about Bridgeport. How about you move back into the city limits. You did not respond to Dr. Gaston that way. You are going to burn in hell. Watch and see. I see it coming you don’t mess with PASTORS. I hope he sue your drawls off! You old retiree. I guess you broke and don’t have much money.

    4. DR. GASTON SUE HIS POOR BLACK ASS. TAKE THAT CAR FROM HIM. THAT IS ALL HE GOT TO OFFER. I THINK IT MAY BE WOTH 7K. IS IT WORTH SUING THIS POOR MISERABLE OLD MAN. PLEASE DON’T SUE HIM. LET ME HANDLE HIM. I WILL BEAT HIM IN COURT.

  19. Donald
Quite presumptuous of Rev Gaston calling you Donnie when he says he doesn’t even know you.
Then to call you out like that when you post on OIB. I guess he doesn’t have the courage to come to you on OIB.
Must have been someone telling him and he couldn’t respond so he posts that on FB and hopes you don’t see that.
Rev Gaston. Please stop posting on social media websites unless Mayor Joe approves these first or ask Stevie A what Joe will do to you.

    1. Bob, stay out of Don mess. Don is stupid as stupid does. Dr. Gaston don’t stoop to their level. They want you in their sandbox because they are all dumb and envious of you. Let me handle Don and Ron. They are evil and lonely men. Don meet me at the Sharpton-Gaston march. Please do. I want to see if you talk like this in person you talk a lot on this thing, but off here, you are soft. Remember not long ago you were kissing JOES ass! Oh. what happened, you got your crumb from the table and ran? now you mad because you think somebody else is eating GOOD. Dr. Gaston go order yourself a steak.

If you want to find out how real and not phony like other people are, just check with Pastor Bennett at Mount Airy church. He will vouch for her.

  21. Ron
If Rev Gaston wanted to find out about how abysmal the BFD’s record is on hiring Females for the Fire Dept he could check it out. But if he did he would have criticize his boss Joe Ganim and we know he won’t do that now.
He is like the Ground Hog. Comes out of his hole once a year and then goes back down and we don’t hear of him for another year.

    1. Bob, that is not true??? What the hell have you been doing? Tell me who know you. What the hell have you done for this community? People don’t KNOW you! Don’t offend another black preacher or leader in this community. Stop with your racist shit. You are stirring the pot! YOu are using black people against each other that is how you all stay in power. I will not let you all focus on Rev. Gaston focus on me. I can handle anyone of you. I am a strong, independent, black women with three kids and trust me I am not sacred of nayone. Bridgeport born and raised babe! What tf up???

    2. Bob, Stevie A must be off the city clock now because rants are after 4pm, he thinks by hiding that Mario and Joe won’t know it’s him but the good news is that nobody is replying back.

      1. Yes Idiot thats it. I will say this, who ever Stephanie Thompson is, she certainly kicked the ass of Ronnie, Donnie and Bobbie. 3 losers for sure. I would just like to say that there is a Primary coming up . Marcus Brown has a pulse on what’s happening in Bridgeport, Trumbull and Monroe. Clearly, that other candidate dies not. Sad that her support system, the local NAACP , a do nothing group. I also would like to chine in on the Rev. Gaston scenario. Like Stephanie Thompson, I have a huge amount of respect for. Ronnie and Donnie and your Failed State Senator combined have less education than Mr. Gaston. Nobody has ever asked me not to post on this blog. You guys bore me to tears. You sit on your fat asses and contribute nothing. Bob and Donnie do not live in Bridgeport. Nobody hear gives a crap what you have to say. Ron Mackey, you are not held in high regard in your community. Just like whats her name. Marcus Brown for State Senate. Marshal Marcus, I respect your support for candidate. You are good for 2 votes. You know whats her names treaurer was not only anti white but a huge anti semite. You know hates Jews and Israel. When there was a bomb scare at Bnai Israel on Park Avenue. Your candidate was the only elected official that was not there in support. Rodeph Shalom, B’nai Israel and B’nai Torah in Trumbull will know that and support Marcus Brown. I agree with Ms. Thompson’s support of Gaston Herron. I’d be very disappointed if he came on here to defend himself against a couple of miserable cancer like individuals. You guys rarely if ever have anything positive to say about anyone or our spectacular city. Life is short , get busy do something constructive. … Stay safe everyone. BTW Thank you for thinking I was Ms. Thompson. She is a breath of fresh air and BTW, i did hear her ask you to join her.. of course you guys wouldn’t just like meeting JML for coffee. Seriously. Remember to vote!! Everyone be well.

          1. Hi Steve, It’s been a while.
I won’t be running into Marcus and Gaudet in the elevators as they have sold their Embassy apartment (using disgraced BPT Civil Service Commission member and Trumbull resident Eileen Gueddes) and moved to Arcadia Ave. Talk about guilt by association. I would’t trade Gueddes for Baraka, and am not electing either one of them to anything.

You don’t know vote counts, in my home alone, there are 4 votes for Senator Moore, all 4 of whom donated to her campaign and have voted for her before and will do so in the primary.
Unlike many posting here, I don’t view D22 as Bridgeport Centric. Bpt has another State Senator, but D22 represents the whole of Trumbull. Senator Moore has produced for Trumbull, I don’t want to give up her seniority and knowledge for a newbie who has produced nothing for his CC district in more than two years.

I would not be talking about education accomplishments when your candidate Brown has just managed to be a college junior at age 29, while you tear down a Black, Female senior citizen who was subject to all types of discrimination that precluded access to higher education. Hell, I’m older than you are and in 1971 Wesleyan University told me the Jew quota was filled. As a white male it didn’t matter much, I got into and attended an Ivy league school. A Black Female could not hide race or gender. Brown is of the post affirmative actin age, you don’t call him out for not having at least a BS or BA………………..

            0
          2. Just a clarification…
My comment about Brown being of the post affirmative action age does not imply he benefited from affirmative action, BUT sets a timeline showing his youth. He was not alive before the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And as I mentioned I suffered religious discrimination in education 7 years after it was the law.
My comment was to show that he did not have the same stumbling block to completing higher education than we senior citizens who are minorities.

I don’t support Brown’s candidacy, but would not like anyone to think I am accusing him of reaching where he is because of Affirmative Action programs.

  22. Before Al Sharpton comes to save Bridgeport, what have our Bridgeport Legislative Delegation tried to accomplish in Hartford?
I thought this column by Chris Powell was very much on the money. He takes a very well deserved swing at Bridgeport/New Haven/Hartford legislators. Seems like common-sense.

FYI, I am a very big supporter of Police but recognize the impact of unions and that changes have to be made.

    1. What has Marilyn accomplished? Name one thing. What racist policy has she fought against? How much money has she brought back to Bridgeport? What kind of leader is she? What kind of matriarch is she to fight a black man. She can be his grandma? What has she done pre-election? nothing. Her campaign was unorganized and people were fighting each other. Some of her loyal people walked out on her becasue they discovered she was a devil. She is riding off of Ed Gomes. Her lover for many years. He is about tired of her now. She is old and used and need to retire from politics. She is a racist. She is anti everything and everybody. She supposed to respresent black people, but she represents the worst of us not the best. why follow this devil. Don and Ron, both of you are old farts and outdated. Go find something to do with you time!

  23. Pardon me but I interrupt this blog to update my previous post above about the Chicago statistics which at 5:42PM yesterday were 61 shot and 9 killed. The final numbers are in and a mere 6 hours and 15 minutes later, there were a total of 99 persons shot and 12 killed….according to the Chicago Sun Times.
    Nobody cares…….SAD.

    1. Don and Ron, answer his question. It is sad they been in bridgeport all these years and haven’t been able to mentor one male child. Better yet they haven’t been able to stop the violence on any part of town. Failures. smgdh. They go to a church that is so “pro black” but look at the character of people who go there. They are the blacks i see tearing down other blacks!

  24. Dr., Rev. Herron Gaston, when you get in the ring with an opponent back sure you know something about them, what fights that opponent has been in and what is their style and method and who’s in their corner. Dr., Rev. Herron Gaston, Donald Day and myself have been fighting this beast of institutional racism when you were in grammar school. Institutional racism starts at the highest level here in Bridgeport with Mayor Ganim, the police and fire chief and the Civil Service Commission, you were on that commission and you watch and saw this institutional racism going on and you did and said nothing.

    0
  25. Ron, correct if I’m wrong, but did Herron Gaston tell CASPER the last time IT was extolling his virtues to shut the FLUCK UP and that he didn’t want or need IT to speak on his behalf? My question to you, “what is IT doing now?

    0
    1. Donald Day-Mackey shut your mouth up. I told you to keep quiet! You don’t listen well. Nobody will shut me up! Do you hear me? I don’t work for nobody but my damn self. After two plus decades in the school system, i retired with a damn good pension. Nobody regulate me but me. Go get financially free! Call me IT all you want go throw your dress back on! At one point you were one of Bridgeport finest queens. Make up your mind how and when you want to step to me as Mr. or Mrs. Trust me I can handle you however you show up. THE Stephanie Renee Thompson!

  26. I must say that for me this has been the most amusing blog in a long long time. Limited bloggers on this particular subject, tearing each other up! I’m sure everyone who reads this blog has seen it.
My only posting on this particular blog topic were comments about statistics of those shot and killed in Chicago. Unfortunately , This morning, Monday, sad to report there were many shootings with deaths resulting in Bridgeport within a 7 hour period yesterday. What was behind this? Was it racism, as some on this blog always blame? Was it poverty? Was it lack of family values and structure? Was it greed or drug dealing?
Which was the reason behind this? Some bloggers on here always attribute these incidents to one of the above. Lack of police protection, training, or manpower?
    Which is it????????
If you can find the root cause instead of blaming this one or that one or this thing or that- maybe you can stop this.

  27. Don, this is what Rev. Herron Gaston told Stephanie Thompson but she is still disrespecting Rev. Gaston request.

    Herron Gaston says:

    March 11, 2019 at 2:30 pm

    Ms. Thompson,
I do not need you to defend me. I do not want to wage this into an argument, but rather civil a dialogue. Moreover, I will not respond to any further comments in this fashion— but to say that I do not apologize or shrink from the tasks set before me.
    Best,
    Rev. Gaston

  28. Ron you know how to take the good out of the morning! I am not dishonoring anybody. I am speaking my mind. Let me help you. Marilyn Moore is a loser. Sauda Baraka is a loser. She came up off the backs of old men. Everybody surround themselves with Moore are bitter and hateful during COVID. They mostly are all over 70 years old. A high risk group for COVID. They need to save their breath for when they need it. Now about these damn shootings. What have you all done to save the youth? Is that the responsibiltiy strictly of the Mayor? or is that the responsibiliy of the “culture” as you put it? Which one? The Mayor is a white man. You are a black man but a white man to your core. You are an oppressor of black people! Look how you talk about Dr. Gaston. He is not an elected official. He is a pastor on the east end and a damn good one. He is an appointed person, not an elected person. I can see you holding him accountable being elected. But know the difference between apointed and elected. Hold Marilyn Moore accountable! She is always talking about holding people accountalbe. Let us hold her ass accountable. She don’t know I will organize whites, blacks, reds, and browns against her ass like nobody business and I will take that seat from her! I don’t know Brown but I am ready to knock doors to get her out of office! She has divided this community.
Your pastor NEED to make his whole church repent! Evil and nasty spirits and you wonder why our children don’t want to go to church. Since everything in Brdigeport starts at the top can i say that your nastiness starts at the top! Who can you blame there! Your pastor? Your leader? Your God, Marilyn Moore?

  29. To the Black Lives Matter and the protesters fighting systemic racism here is something to help you to destroy that system and I’m sure Rev Al Sharpton would find this very helpful, no justice no peace. Let’s not forget the rally with Rev Al Sharpton was orchestrated by politicians. This a great book with details to press for changes.

  30. (Mr. Mackey, thank you for reminding us of Ron Bailey’s story NO BLACK HEROES. It is an exciting and worthwhile read, for sure.)
Who runs Bridgeport to such a large extent that folks are fearful, do not know how to change the things that bother them and fail to respect/trust much of what passes for current governance? How say you Ms. Thompson? You are much engaged in confrontations with people of color as well as whites who have posted. Thirty three postings on this topic and most people cannot identify you as one who has provided long term service to the community, written to alert the public to the continuing injustices allowed to frame the status quo, or addressed the City Council. 33 postings where you call out people to call them nasty, ignorant or worse, yet readers can gain no better sense of the principles that guide you or the activities that outrage you??
So Reverend Al is coming to town to encourage participation by citizens in an event started by the Interdenominational Alliance three years ago with local fiscal support, I hear. Is there an increased, fact-based learning and data supported comprehension of how Bridgeport has strayed from public governance? Spoke with one of Bridgeport’s finest this AM when he told me that they will be serving without a current contract on upcoming July 4, 2020. Why can’t the City get ahead of contract renewals like Police and Fire? Why doesn’t Ganim2 alert us to his sense of best quality practices now and show us how the greater public can participate in framing genuine “community policing” that engages most in the community and overcomes the fear and lack of respect for those who serve in the time of social media? Ms. Thompson? Time will tell.

  31. Sharpton the race-baiter is coming to town.
Will he lecture young black males on the need to act responsibly?
    Not likely.
He will more likely inflame the animosity that divides people.
    That’s what he does.
    That’s who he is.

  32. JML, regarding Ms. Thompson she is not as engaging in confrontational with people be them color or white as you might think. She only engages when Rev, Eye Candy gets disrespected.. She seems to be less engaged on all other topics regarding the Port or anything else for that matter. In my assessment, she is in love with him like Bay and Ron is with Maria. 🙂

“Ed Board Bids Good-bye To Columbus, Too” NEW HAVEN INDEPENDENT

The Board of Education voted overwhelmingly in support of removing Christopher Columbus’s name from a Fair Haven K-8 school—as well as from an October holiday on the district’s calendar—in the city’s latest reckoning with the 15th-century explorer’s violent legacy.

They voted 6-1 in support of renaming Christopher Columbus Family Academy to a new name, yet to be determined. They said the Board of Ed’s Facilities Naming Committee will take the lead on coming up with a new name for the elementary and middle school.

They also voted 6-1 to switch Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples’ Day on the public school district’s calendar.
