Weeks ago the news was bleak, an intense gut infection sidelined former State House member and two-time mayoral candidate Chris Caruso to the ICU at St. Vincent’s Medical Center for nearly two months, life support a necessity.
Several days ago he segued from ICU to his own room and news on Thursday from close friends reports he’s scheduled for transfer to the Gaylord Specialty Healthcare facility in Wallingford that specializes in extended rehabilitation recovery.
The 65 year-old Caruso, who has never backed down from a political fight, is showing his resolve during this health emergency. Rehabilitation is likely to take many weeks at Gaylord.
In this season of Thanksgiving and miracles, an OIB salute for steady progress and full recovery.
Chris,
We have been prevented from contact with you due to a “full voicemail box” . But you know that. Our prayers for your full recovery in the past or present are not to be considered ‘miraculous’ but we thank the Holy Spirit for being merciful in this instance and helping your healing. May you gain strength to enjoy the company of good friends, and the companionship of food and drink to warm all. You are missed for your patience, knowledge of history, and caring about others. Your community awaits and wonders how we may assist in your getting back to a more normal life of service to many. Time will tell.
Get well, Chris! You’re needed on the Bridgeport political scene now more than ever!
Get well, Chris! You’re needed on the Bridgeport political scene now more than ever!
Chris the lasagna at Massimo’s awaits your return, get well soon!
A man and servant-leader beyond compare. Our onetime gift to all of Connecticut. Get well, Chris!
Don’t get too involved in town affairs while healing in rehab splendor at Gaylord in Wallingford, Chris! Any Connecticut town would be glad to have the likes of you in residence, but we very much need you back in Bridgeport. Hey, do we need to post a Bridgeport police officer outside your door to block your fellow Italian-American, Mayor Vinny Cervoni, from recruiting you into service for Wallingford?
