Yankee Fans Unite–Valentine Endorses Obsitnik For Congress

Bobby Valentine, New Red Sox General Manager
Bobby, the 4th Congressional District is Yankee territory.

It can’t be! The 4th Congressional district going red? On the weekend the hated Boston Red Sox invade Yankee Stadium, Blowsox Manager Bobby Valentine has endorsed Democratic Congressman Jim Himes’ Republican opponent Steve Obsitnik. What self-respecting Yankee fan could now support Obsitnik? What has the political world come to? Thankfully, incumbent Himes is an unabashed Yankee fan. Hey, here’s an idea, the Himes campaign should do a direct mail piece with Bobby endorsing Obsitnik in a Red Sox jersey. That would certainly juice the turnout in Bridgeport. From Obsitnik:

Stamford Native and Boston Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine Endorses Steve Obsitnik

STAMFORD—Mayor Mike Pavia, Former Lt. Governor Mike Fedele, Former Mayor Stan Esposito, Senator Scott Frantz, Representative Livvy Floren, Representative Mike Molgano, and local candidates from all across Stamford held a press conference Wednesday announcing their vision for Stamford and support for Stamford native Steve Obsitnik for US Congress in Connecticut’s 4th District.

Obsitnik highlighted his home town roots stating, “I am back home today in Stamford. I learned many of life’s lessons from teachers at Turn of River Middle School and Stamford High School … including Coaches Dick Bruce and Mario Caminiti, Richard Kubinec, and Gabriella Welte.”

Obsitnik continued, “These lessons of: hard work, integrity, taking care of those less fortune than yourself served me on the soccer field as the captain of Black Knights, during my years at the US Naval Academy, and as a small businessman.”

Former Lt. Gov. Fedele spoke about the need for more businessmen in Washington before passing it over to Former Stamford Mayor Stan Esposito who read Bobby Valentine’s endorsement.

Boston Red Sox Manager and Stamford native Bobby Valentine said, “It’s a pleasure to endorse Steve Obsitnik for congress. He’s a local guy who graduated from Stamford High School, served his country in the U.S. Navy, and has gone on to achieve success in businesses. As a small business owner, I can tell you that we need to send people like Steve Obsitnik to Washington if we want to get this district and our country back on the right track.”
