What do you do when stopped by the police, in your house, in your car and on the street? Retired Bridgeport Police Lieutenant David Daniels will conduct a conversation about racial profiling and community policing July 18th, 10 a.m. at the Bridgeport Public Library Downtown. The event is sponsored by the Connecticut Stop Violence Movement.

Simply be polite and do not become confrontational like a lot of us blacks like to do when cops stop us. Never had a problem with the cops and Bridgeport police seem to be the best cops I’ve seen in CT.
donj, I agree completely. I think Bridgeport has a great police force.
Respect the uniform. Slow the emotions. Listen to the words. Question asked? Comprehend? If you answer NO ask politely for a repeat. Get on with it. (Remember the saying: “Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s all small stuff.”) Live another day. Life is good and you have an important role to play. Time will tell.
The experience and recommendations of private citizens are always important to share. Hearing straight from a police officer is equally important and no doubt can give concrete examples of what respectful words and actions are. Not everyone has examples of this in their community, the more people are made aware, the better. I am very thankful this event is taking place. I hope you have great turnout and media coverage. Have you let Doing It Local know about this? He has great outreach and is very supportive of the police and firefighters.
