That’s because it’s paid/stage algorithm farce. To John L Point Casual Civics Conversations as disingenuous as it is on the face value of the words, No Kingship it true purpose is to keep people engaged, No?
To be fair outside of a few swings state national, locally the political Casual Civics Conversation tends to be set. That is way perhaps there are low turnouts. If you a democrat, you know a D is going to win, no? As for Republicans in the Port, outside of a mandate (BBOE) they are just practicing. 🤣
My guess it is fair to say perhaps its more about shaping the young new converts minds.
What did the King say the America’s democracy politics? 🙂
I do find it a bit unbalanced in the Casual Civil Conversation, Port being without any Rs in city governance. So, it is fair to say when it comes to Port politics the King ship in non- existence Port politics, and Port elections are self-serving individually. No?
If we had some R’s perhaps the balance debate in that ” Casual Civil Conversation” would be about Crime/Punishment/ aLw and Order, and not about Walking Distance, and School bus funding that has been a topic of that Casual Civil Conversation for quite some years.
I use quotations around “Casual Civil Conversation” because it wasn’t much of a conversation online. At least on social media, regarding this f-ed up violent sexual assault by grow ass man on a young girl walking to school.
No OIB commentary for Senate Gaston, a few reports of BPD from political officials, but no new coverage.
To make it about busing or school location seems disingenuous. I mean it is given you can’t have kids walk 40 minutes to school. Period. Making policies, relying on parents to bring their child to school or about reallocating is just as disingenuous.
But to Porter’s tread about crime in the city there were 40 or so sexual assaults. I can’t speak to CT’s taking on punishment but if it likes any of the reports the Rs place on D run state/city. It makes you think.
Willie was on Point though, this location is far better than if it was on Fairfield/ State Street. IOM. Good Job Willie. 🙂
All those funds the city, and towns are generating from those bus/camera tickets should go to the bus fundings. JS
John, I just had a thought as to why the Port elections turnout. Being on team Democrat, there’s not Kingship (R) candidates that can win. So, it is fair to say based on that non-existence Kingship 80% of the Ds don’t have to waste their time voting in Ports elections. Every morning after election their party wins.
So, it is fair to say, Port politics is Kingship free and an inside game. 🙂
Good Job, the D party in now Port’s absolute ruler. 🙂 Well play totalitarian rules. I mean you/CC didn’t have minority party requirement set in the new Charter? How did that overtime individual pay cap go. 🙂
The Democratic Party is the Donald Trump of the Port let this sink in
CIVICS it the study of CITIZEN RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES!!!
It is basically very simple; or so it seems to me.
Citizens are human beings who are included within the rules that govern Bridgeport, Connecticut, and the United States, whether born here or migrated and became included under rules that dealt with an understanding of immigrations and the rights of refugees under our longer standing welcome to folks seeking more for the generations to follow, and are willing and pleased to work for the improved future status.
A dialogue, conversations, debate, and certainly discussions between legislators as to the status of persons caught up in the effort to deal with Federal overreach is well overdue. Why is that? Where is the proof that we are under attack externally or within the 50 states to need a “para military force” on City streets, creating conditions akin to “terror” for people based not on factual evidence, with failures of prompt accountability for each incident that appears on the internet, and with no overall purpose or data-based goal for their effort?
CIVICS conversations could look to the Bill of Rights language, to the norms and processes we have come to expect and maintain or challenge, as the case may require, and to each citizen for their vote, as a “right” not a wrong or something to ignore. When we come to a street light that is red, do we obey it or challenge it, with an assumption that it does not apply to us who are sharing the road with others? When we come to a voting opportunity, do we who consider ourselves “good citizens”, vote which when added to other votes informs our neighbors and establishes a reality until the following election. If we are to vote do we not become informed as to the people and/or questions on the ballot? When 90% fail to cast a ballot, is it a question for our local legislature to consider or a Mayor to denounce? Where is the voice of the majority in Bridgeport, whether registered as Democrats, Green, Worker Family, Republican, other or Unaffiliated, the second largest group of registered voters in the City. Do they wish to have stronger Ethics in City governance,? Do they look forward to simpler and clarified rules for Civil Service system in the City? Do they loo for more opportunity to sit and participate with Boards and Commissions who will be tasked to report annually on their work to and for all of the public? Did the public not have enough opportunities between February 28, 2025 and June 16th to attend hearings, address written notes to the Charter Commission, or speak up about the issues they feel are not represented? Or is it merely “status quo political action” that caused the Charter document to be divided by the City Council at the last moment before submission to the State for the ballot inclusion to divide out two part-time Clerks (City and Town) who are paid but not present in a representative matter for the public in their offices or at the many hearings and former County Sherrifs whose only ‘official’ status is the mention in the Charter and at election time, but no supervision of their duties and obligations unless matter enter the court system? How do taxpayers feel when City funds are used to defend these activities? Should sheriffs transition to the State system of entry, regulation, and supervision? Time will tell.
Speaking of costumes 🙂
