Watch: Body Cam Footage Of Stabbing-Suspect, Officer-Involved Shooting – Chief Porter Provides Update

Police Chief Roderick Porter shares an update involving a deranged, knife-wielding man who was shot while attacking an officer early Saturday morning on Terry Place in the North End.

The Connecticut Office of Inspector General released body camera footage of a Bridgeport officer shooting a man after he stabbed another officer.

When officers responded to a disturbance, 45-year-old suspect Huntley Jackson bolts out the house raging “I’m gonna mother-fucking kill ya” and stabs Officer Marie Cetti about the shoulder, head and neck.

The footage shows Officer Jesse Jimenez firing his gun twice, hitting Jackson in the torso, according to the inspector general’s report. It’s protocol for the agency to review officer-involved shootings.

Jackson underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition. Cetti was treated and released.

Jackson was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault and assault on a public safety officer. His bond was set at $750,000.

  1. Moving pictures recording an incident in real time are valuable. Both in the sense that thousands of words can be spent relating a violent incident in print, but a video of the scene pre-incident, during, and after provides for better public communication in my opinion.

Linking violence and genuine mental health issues today is critically important info for the public to know and understand. Responding to requests for help is a duty of officers. And specific training as well as incident follow-up review are part of the detailed process.

Real human beings, whether at home seeking assistance, or a family member possibly needing multiple forms of assistance, and public safety officers are seen involved in an unscripted situation. That drama rapidly developed mortal combat dimensions and yielded living casualties with wounds and trauma from participation in the event, and the attacker facing criminal charges as well.

Chief, thank you for the prompt and full story of the incident itself. I hope other City departments who can or will address elements of the case, handle their part as professionally. Time will tell.
