Valentino Retires Under Pressure

Under investigation for possible perjury on the witness stand, longtime state marshal Charles Valentino agreed Friday to retire.

“Things got out of hand and I have no one to blame but myself,” lamented Valentino, 65. “But I was hoping to have at least another year.”

  1. No comments, so far. Charles Valentino liked short comments or no comments even better in his “service” to the most recent Bridgeport Charter Review Commission. After all, like most Mayoral appointees to local boards and commissions, including DTC slates, he knew how he is supposed to record his vote.

    Now Charlie, you will have more time to consider the effect of your behavior. You claimed you knew the rules (as a sheriff and marshal) and have frequently been ready to impress that fact on others. But now you have time for thoughtfulness. Time will tell.

  3. Yes, I guess things really got out of hand when he perjured himself under oath. He obviously knew the ramifications having been a state marshal for so many years.
