Dennis Bradley, awaiting sentencing for federal election fraud while under investigation for state election fraud, has received permission to travel to the wedding of his brother Mark, also under state investigation for election fraud, in the Dominican Republic.

Former state Sen. Dennis Bradley has received permission to leave the country just weeks before he’s scheduled to be sentenced on federal campaign finance charges.
Last week, U.S. District Judge Victor Bolden granted Bradley’s request to travel to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from Oct. 10, through Oct. 17 to attend his brother’s wedding. Federal prosecutors did not object to the request.
Bradley is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 3. He remains free on a $300,000 bond following his March conviction on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. He faces more than 20 years in prison.
The judge’s approval of Bradley’s international travel plans comes as the federal court system faces scrutiny over another convicted Connecticut public official who recently fled the country before sentencing. Former state budget chief Konstantinos (Kosta) Diamantis fled to Greece last week rather than appear for sentencing on federal bribery charges, despite prosecutors and the court being aware he had obtained a Greek passport. facing prison time for accepting bribes, skipped his sentencing hearing here and fled to Greece.
Bradley and his attorney, Darnell Crosland, did not return requests for comment.
Crosland maintains a home and office in the Dominican Republic. On several occasions, including the Bradley case, Crosland has requested delays in court proceedings claiming he was “stuck” in the Dominican Republic and unable to get a flight back to the U.S.
In his request to travel, Bradley said he plans to attend the wedding of his brother Mark in Punta Cana and spend the remainder of the week with his family. He states he will be accompanied by his parents who will fly down and back with him, and by his brother, who will return separately on Oct. 14. Bradley said he will stay at his family’s home in the Dominican Republic.

What’s wild isn’t just the facts, it’s the unbelievable double standard on display for high-profile political and wealthy defendants.
If a public defender stood in front of a federal judge (or a state judge) and asked to send a regular working-class client facing 20 years in prison on an international vacation weeks before sentencing, (or to remain free pending bail) the courtroom would go dead silent before the judge revoked their bail on the spot.
Does the entire presumption of flight risk vanish the moment you obtain have wealth, have a law degree or a political title and connections attached to your name?
Financial bail ($300,000 in this case) is supposed to guarantee court appearances, but for connected elites with ties abroad, bond is just the cost of doing business, not a deterrent. Leaving the country pending sentencing isn’t a right, it’s an extraordinary privilege reserved for extreme emergencies, not social gatherings.
When prosecutors don’t bother to object, it sends a clear, message to the public, the rules of pre-sentencing detention apply to people who can’t afford a fight, while elite figures operate under a completely separate, concierge legal system.
I hope at the very least they learned from the Kosta fiasco and will put restrictions on flights everywhere else and put an interpol warrant for him if he lands anywhere else but US soil.
