The Quest To Qualify

Want to appear on the ballot for September’s Democratic mayoral primary? You’ll need certified signatures from five percent of registered Dems in the city. From Democratic mayoral candidate Mary-Jane Foster:

Petition Drive Training Session THIS WEDNESDAY. We need to get 2500 signatures and we can’t do it without you! The time is now, my friends!

If you believe Bridgeport deserves better, please come to a volunteer training session this Wednesday, July 20 at 6PM at headquarters, located at 3768 Main Street. We will be training people on how to circulate petitions so that my name can appear on the ballot this September.

We’re gaining momentum every day and need your support to push toward victory on September 13th. Here’s the latest from the campaign trail:

• Starting today, our first mailing piece is arriving. It introduces Mary-Jane to Bridgeport residents and shares her experience and vision for getting Bridgeport back on the right track. Have you received it yet?

• We are getting fantastic feedback on our latest radio ad. Have you heard it yet? www.fosterforbridgeport.com

• Did you see the front page of today’s Connecticut Post? We’re making headlines! If you have friends, neighbors, or coworkers who want to help Mary-Jane’s campaign, please forward this e-mail to them and bring them with you on Wednesday night! Everyone is welcome!

  1. Oooh, reeks of desperation. Why would you send out a release? Ahhh, no ‘burbs persons gonna go door to door. Finch has to be smiling at this one.

    1. Chosen, I’ve had about enough of you. Either you’re the biggest asshole on this blog or you are a plant for Bill Finch trying to put a wedge between John Gomes and Mary-Jane. In either case, do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.

    2. B2 to C1,
Go back to your witch’s brew … smoke and mirrors … and mention of the suburbs …
Mary-Jane getting friends (who have gotten to know her on local and regional boards? who happen to live in the suburbs? who have an accurate sense that Bridgeport, the City, could be a lot more than it is today for its citizens and the region?) to provide funds and effort in her quest??? What is so unusual about that?
When you go to the hospitals, or to City Hall, or to Sacred Heart University or to University of Bridgeport, do all the folks working there live in Bridgeport and vote in Bridgeport? Heck, no.
By the way, which residents in the local towns and cities are taxed as heavily as we are in Bridgeport? Do you think having a Finance Board of experienced and bipartisan makeup might make a better check and balance than we have today?
Do you think real estate values, the excellence of public schools, beaches, parks and overall accountability and transparency have anything to do with why people have exited Bridgeport in past years? So what are you knocking the suburbs for? You can be loyal to the City and still understand we have fallen way behind in providing excellence in governance. This is the opportunity the ANYONE BUT FINCH!!! candidates have seized upon. The more you dis the suburbs the more obvious it becomes as to where your allegiance rests and where your head and attention are stuck!
I have lived in the ‘burbs and in Bridgeport, each about 24 years. I think Mary-Jane is a known quantity beyond City borders and that is to her advantage while you seem to take it as something to be feared, ridiculed and disparaged.
Maybe you need to move to a new subject?

    1. Looks to me like you are driving that wedge. What’s your agenda? Or are you just threatened by competent women? OMG, you’re Bill Finch! I should have known.

        To your posting
        chs,
You couldn’t have nailed it any better …

“What’s your agenda? Or are you just threatened by competent women? OMG, you’re Bill Finch! I should have known.”

It’s Competency from any person that scares the hell out of him. He tossed off JG and MJF like dandruff when he found out they were competent.

        1. carolanne,
JG, not a bad guy. But you above all should know attacking MJF was bad advice. You are among those who created the ego that won’t allow him to have clarity. On behalf of the City Of Bridgeport and its best interests, self reflect and show him the way out as a gentleman before he does too much damage.

  2. Quote of the day from CT Post Mike Daly’s “City rescue will take more than this” editorial regarding the BOE takeover:

Bridgeport is a “city that’s run by a relatively small group of people with an interest primarily in holding onto the power and jobs they have or control, even as certain things–the school system as a case in point–slip away.”

This is what this next election is all about. Do we take our city back or do we allow the raping and pillaging to continue until there is no turning back?

  3. The Bridgeport Republican Town Committee will be holding their caucus tonight to elect candidates for the upcoming municipal elections. The caucus will take place at 6pm at the North End Branch Library. If the citizens of Bridgeport are looking for an alternative to the business as usual ways of the city, please take into consideration the candidates who will be running on the Republican ticket.
