Thanksgiving Help For The Homebound

Matty's Corner

Help Feed The Homebound This Thanksgiving! Every year friends of Matty’s Corner in Black Rock prepare cooked meals on Thanksgiving Day for 200 elderly and homebound in Black Rock and throughout Bridgeport and the surrounding area. This Bridgeport tradition was started by Dave McDonald, owner of the Ritz Luncheonette in Black Rock which was at the same location where Matty’s Corner is now.

Dave has since passed away, but the Community has kept it going in his memory. Your help is needed to support this worthy cause. Bring food items like canned goods, gravy stuffing mix to Matty’s Corner at Fairfield Ave & Brewster Street now. On Thanksgiving morning, please bring cooked food such as turkey, stuffing, vegetables, rolls, cranberry sauce and pies. There biggest need is for cooked turkeys! If you can do that let them know ahead of time please. And if you know anyone who needs a meal delivered, let them know. They also need help cooking & delivering food on Thanksgiving Day.
