Step Up And Out For The Brave In Support Of Veterans

Bridgeport-based Homes For The Brave has provided support services for veterans for nearly 20 years.

Led by Vince Santilli and staff, Saturday is the kickoff for the signature event at the University of Bridgeport’s pedestrian mall, Step Out For The Brave. Between Saturday and Sunday, August 15th, participants are encouraged to take 40,000 steps for each of the 40,000 homeless veterans across the United States.

As Santilli notes in the interview above with News 8, his organization has served roughly 1,400 homeless men and women, most of them veterans, with three facilities in Bridgeport including once for women and their children.

Services include programs for clinical, mental health, life skills and vocational for employment with an 80 percent placement rate.
